I don't know how the set up works for the company you purchased from but somebody should be paying 20% VAT under UK Tax law (It could be the responsibility of the company if they have a site in the EU and import it to that site before reselling it from there) . Of course it's possible to get away with it but it just means the law has been broken somewhere along the way. If buying directly from Xiaomi in the UK there would be no way to avoid it. Retailers have to charge you 20% VAT. It's equally due on imports from outside the EU but some of these resellers may be finding ways to evade tax

        The Chinese variant supports all bands here in Europe unlike North America.
        Also Giztop offered two year warranty with the product, so I don't have any complaints.

                  It depends on which gcam version you are using.
                  There are different versions... 7.x, 8.1, 8.2, 8.3 etc.
                  On top of that there are a bunch of developers with their own mods based on the above versions.

                  Newer versions will usually have some bugs or may not work on all lenses but it will have all the latest features ported from pixel. Also subject to more crashes.

                  Older versions like 7.x will lack newer features but will usually work on all lenses are much stable.

                  I am personally using 8.2 based gcam which works on all lenses.
                  I use it for the zoom lens and Ultrawide lens at night (as it produces less distortion that stock).
                  For the rest, I use stock camera which is excellent, day or night.

                        Infact many people don't use the extra features inside gcam app like photosphere etc. they just use the gcam as a point & shoot camera that works more consistently than the stock camera and gives huge difference at night (on lower priced phones).

                        Gcam development for flagship phones isn't a problem unless there is no one developing for that device.
                        Most popular flagships have no issues getting working gcam on all lenses

There is 20% VAT on importing into the UK too if you are importing directly from China as it's outside the EEC(at least you are supposed to pay 20% VAT). Of course though you can import for cheaper if you like. It's a good option for some

Didn't need to spend 1200 Euros just because I was from Europe. Plenty of people, for example.. from the the UK, where it was even more expensive than its EU pricing, have done the same.
