Same specs do not mean same sensor.
Vivo is using gn1 for 3rd generation in sequence.
Mi11 has hmx, used since 2019.
Still can squeeze more of hardware.
Using 1/1.7 or more for ultra wide is waste of space

The Xiaomi 12 Ultra is just going to hammer one more nail into Samsung's coffin with this outdated camera setup... The very least Samsung could have done is updated the ultra wide to a 1/1.7" - 1/1.5" sensor. The main camera continues to use a 3 year old sensor - Which Samsung will rebrand as an "updated" sensor... The telephoto cameras need to use larger sensors... NOT 1/3.2"... Check out my Mi 11 Ultra (ceramic black) product review on Amazon India... I've included 2 telephoto images taken from approximately 1.5 km away... Now by stark contrast look at Xiaomi -- Class leading sensors... Class leading optics... Class leading image / video stabilization... And finally - Class leading image processing.

People here know that photo quality decreases as ISO increases.
Why not keeping it down?
Just set iso no more than 400 and shutter about 1/8.
Once set, it remains same until person changes again.

But, when we get out of the totally messed up smartphone market full of non-senses, any display discontinuity, regardless where it is placed, is an awful idea, which is exactly why there is nowhere else than the smartphone market where we can find such thing.
Even tablets, which literally are just bigger smartphones with almost no other differences, only the Huawei MatePad has one, and that's it, and even there, it is only the Pro variant, and only the 10.8" 2019 and 2020 ones.
This isn't for you to decide what is superior, and it isn't a question of what is superior, many PREFER one over the other and vice versa, there is a huge quantity of people who DO use the 2D and poorly secured cam based Android face recognition already, securing it with proper 3D face scanning is a no-brainer.
And considering that by far, most FPS nowadays are the optical ones, which is awful security wise, exactly like the 2D face recognition, 3D face recognition is still much better.
Re-read, I never said there is a problem, I actually said it is the best of them, but Samsung failed to implement it properly with their S10, Note 10, S20 and Note20, giving the ultrasonic FPS a bad reputation that it is only now slowly recovering from.
Curved edges is the same as punch hole, if we had choice about it, it wouldn't be an issue, and being a special feature it clearly shouldn't represent a majority, the issue being that almost all flagships nowadays have it, and we have no other choices.
I never said the 108Mp was bad, only that it is overkill, as the said, the GN2, who have half its resolution, is better, and if it wasn't for the 108 being a premium Samsung sensor, it wouldn't compete at all.
And I never said they had a bad zoom tech, only that they have big chances to totally fail the continuous zoom tech.

It’s Xiaomi who pushes... moreI don't know where you saw the "4MP" part, but Fold 3 has a 16MP sensor which is Quad Bayer just like Mix 4's 20MP sensor. The image quality between Mix 4 and Fold 3 is also fairly comparable, with the former having a more natural rendition of skin textures in less challenging lighting conditions but the latter dealing quite a bit better with flares (neither of them are particularly good quality, just saying).

The whole point of UDC is that the camera is not visible from the display side. If it consistently notifies users where it is placed by showing an obvious octagonal mosaic pattern then that's not well "baked", either. It's a matter of preference whether you take less visual disruption or more glare-free selfie, but neither implementation is objectively superior to one another. Personally, I'll wait a bit more until the UDC tech fully matures and becomes capable of delivering acceptable image quality under any circumstances.

Think of RX100V camera bump but on a phone.
