Is the App Store a developers only option? Has Epic’s removal from said App Store rendered them unable to deliver games through through any means and send them out of business?
No, why???…..BECAUSE ITS NOT A GODDAM MONOPOLY!!!!!
The App Store is not Epic’s only avenue for doing business. It’s the only way to get apps on a device running iOS sure, but does as iOS does not encompass the entirety of the App sales business, it is therefore not, and hopefully for the final time, a monopoly!
At the end of the day, it’s the US Court system and you that have have a difference of opinion on the definition of Monopoly, especially in this case. You don’t like it, take it up with them!

Whoever thinks that apple can do whatever they want in their platform iOS as they please is either stupid or an apple shareholder or an employee. You pay a hefty amount upfront not only for the device, but also for the operating system. There should be a freedom to install whatever application the user wants, whatever the payment system user wants and whatever repair method user wants to do. It is like buying a car. of course if you buy a car you can pump gasoline from any of the manufacturers. You can use the car branded oil or some generic oil to service your car. You should not be forced to use only the branded items for everything. It is anticompetitive.
This company is trying to squeeze their customers pockets dry. It is the greediest corporation ever.

There is no monopoly, Apple enforcing rules, based around agreed to T&C’s regarding the use of their own IP and infrastructure, both things that are used by choice on the part of consumers and developers, does not constitute a monopolistic practice. The one concession to that being around in app payment systems.
The judge being labelled as ‘ignorant’ just suggests that the person making that statement simply didn’t like the verdict delivered. Well boohoo for them.

Epic entered into an agreement with Apple to use the App Store. They did so of their own volition and being fully aware of the exiting T&C’s!
Had Epic embarked on the so called (yet obviously BS) moralistic campaign from the outset, then I might have had a certain understanding for their position.
But no, they used Apple services and infrastructure for years to line their pockets. Then once their coffers had been sufficiently filled, they decided they wanted rules that they had long agreed to changed.

If you don’t like Apple’s rules as either a consumer or business partner. Then simply don’t buy their products or do business with them. Nobody from Apple is going to come along and force you to do so.
Epic was happy to do business with Apple for years, happy enough to appear on stage at Apple events to promote new software and boast about revenue they’d made through the App Store.
Then Epic decided they weren’t happy anymore, and what’s worst they tried to palm their new stance off as some kind of noble crusade on the behalf of the little guys…….
