16 November, 2012

Anonymous, 16 Nov 2012Sony were named XDA's OEM of 2012 annd another recent study... moreMore than enough processing power for what? For your current needs? What about for your needs 5 years ago, did you say the same back then? Its like you are assuming that there will be no new things to use phones for in the future and that everything is going to stagnate.

I think we should know better by now, even if we cannot imagine what the near future will bring its still gonna happen, progress is not slowing down but speeding up. Thats why im afrai sony will be too late, when they are out with Yuga/Odin the performance norm will already be taken to new heights by quad A15 exynos with mali604, quad krait is going to be old news before sonys new flagship can reach the stores.

Advice, 16 Nov 2012Very strange.... Sony admitted that its phones can't compet... morethey're comparing with xperia T and TX because those are the latest available to compete in the top class in spite of the T and TX clearly losing in the competition with Galaxy S3 and Iphone 5.. that's the only choice Sony has right now..

Sony were named XDA's OEM of 2012 annd another recent study ranked them #3 in terms ofsales (though different studies say different).

The thing that others here don't seem to get is that we don't really need better specs than a GSIII or iPhone 5 as we already have more than enough processing power -- Sony phones are usually priced better, better designed, better software, and better attitudes to developers than Samdung.

By the time they release it, there will be a Galaxy SIV that won't only be about the specs but also about features.

sil, 16 Nov 2012The quad core krait is build on Cortex A15!!! I donnot get ... moreKrait is a custom architecture. Qualcomm got a license on the A15 design from ARM, but developed an arch from their own wich still can work on the set of instructions an A15 would.

However, even when it behaves close to an A15 while processing instructions, physical and electronic design differences have traditionally made true Cortex designs much better. Looking at how the Exynos 5250 stacks against the Dual Krait (the 'equivalent' Qualcomm design) this is also true for the A15 chips.

As of yet, the Nexus 10 and Samsung Chromebook will be the first two devices sporting an A15 SoC (Exynos 5250). Let's hope OMAP 5 and Tegra 4 join the party soon too.

That didn't half make me chuckle...

This is EXACTLY what's wrong with Sony phones...

If I've said it once, I've said it again - they're always peddling last year's technology, today.

A direct rival to iphone 5 / Galaxy 3? The Galaxy 4 is around the corner and the iphone 5 was nothing really to shout about... And HTC are really going to up their game after the muted sales of the One X...

I think this is Sony's last chance, they get this wrong (bearing in mind Sammy are about to announce / likely to launch 5" 1080p screens next year) - Sony need to up the ante, not just play along...

so next year will be the battle of 5 inch phones! and does that mean galaxy note 3 will have a 6" screen? having said that, i hope for sony's success. the more the merrier and hope they don't price it too expensive which most sony's products are.

You cannot take great performance like iphone 5 with s4 pro on 1080p resolution ... They must upgrade cpu and gpu if they want performance as a rival.

Anonymous, 16 Nov 2012Sony always seems to be behind the times. By the time they ... morewell said bro, but the fact is that sony will never ever learn, even if they provide latest hardware they will provide a last gen software or version of android n spoil all the fun, i think u remember that even though ics is released long back sony released thier 2012 flagship model xperis s on "gingerbread"n thier update process of software is painfully slow. i would never ever lay my hands on a sony phone in the near future if they continue like this,
