And no government definitely isn't responsible for all of the 63% price hike. For example, apple iphone 12 was launched for 80K, but after 6 months you could have that for as low as 65K. This is Apple's strategy for money hogging. No other brand does it... No not even Samsung..
LOOK at Z fold 3 pricing. Its 1800 USD in USA, and approx 2040USD in India.. a mere 12%.
Thats acceptable considering Z fold 3 will sell in much more volume in USA. As for cheaper Samsung phones they are actually cheaper than other countries. Apple is charging more than 5 times extra difference than samsung for their latest flagships. How can you group them together?

Anonymous, 15 Sep 2021no, its because india taxes luxury products with more taxes... moreWTF are you even speaking. Tax and Import Duty + CESS is same for all smartphones in India. For any smartphone that is not made in the country and is imported will have same net % overhead in price as iPhones.
Difference with other smartphones brands in India is either their phones are assembled in India or they decrease their profit margin in the country to normalize the prices.
Apple on the other hand don't have manufacturing for newer iPhones and they want to maximize profit everywhere in the world.

- European prices include VAT
VAT in European countries is generally much higher than sales tax in the American states.
I'd rather pay more for an iPhone and have a free ambulance if I need to be rushed to hospital for whatever reason, ok?
Taxes are useful. If you can't afford an iPhone buy something else.
Personally I wouldn't buy an iPhone at half price but that's another story.
