I recently had to put down my beloved pixel 2 xl after 5 years of usage. Had to buy the vivo x60 pro +. Just because Google decided not launch their new phone in the 2nd biggest market in the world!

IMX386 would be even questionable for midrange phone like 5a or 6a, but for a top end flagship that will cost a premium is simply unacceptable. There will be huge difference between Main and Ultra-Wide sensors in pictures and video, not to mention of features and capability of the sensors.

Have you been living under a rock for the last several years? The size got quadrupled, sensor technology has improved significantly to capture more light per area, Quad Bayer has emerged to enable both high-resolution capture and high SNR on one sensor, different CFAs have been tested and introduced in an attempt to improve light sensitivity, and now a few support on-sensor real time HDR that can be even used for video recording. Out of all the sensors that Pixel 6 series will use, the only ones that can be considered to be relatively new are GN1 for the main shooter and (Pro's) IMX663 for FFC. The rest are really not up to date, especially the UWA camera (A 5 years old IMX386? Seriously?).

Take it or leave it.

IMX386 is a 1/2.9 inch sensor found inside low-end Huawei phones released back in 2016 and not even comparable to IMX363 in terms of sheer light gathering capability, let alone those 48MP/50MP sensors currently used by Xiaomi and BBK. Google could've easily used the same 12MP sensor as the selfie shooter for the UWA (which is much newer and supports Dual Pixel AF) but I guess they wanted to cut corners somewhere smh..

Everything is important: ultra wide, up-to-date sensors, good software, and performance. You can't fool people selling old crappy sensors which are somehow balanced by good software. It seems that 6 will continue the Google's tradition of selling flawed phones. I was a Pixel user since 2017, and my most recent purchase is a Pixel 4a 5g. What a disappointment 🤦
I put it on sale and I'm done with Google, that's it.
