That is Fairphone's modular solution. We just have to wait what kind of upgrade Fairphone will bring for the 4+.

To makes thing even more embarrassing, the Xiaomi Poco X3/X3 NFC/X3 Pro does have a headphone jack while having an IP53 rating at the same time. This doesn't shape up to be a good start for Fairphone's model. I wouldn't be surprised if the existing 3+ or 3 customer will keep using those models for much longer.

What do they mean by MODULAR DESIGN? is it possible too change particulars of this phone? can I replace the 4000mAh battery with a 6000mAh? can I replace the camera sensor with an IMX700 or IMX718? can I change anything else? if Yes, then where will I get those desired particulars? or the Modular Phone is just a gimmick?

What now ? How is that not greedy when they have these prices on there phone ? And why should customers care how fair they pay for there workers if that is coming out of customers pockets ? Assembled by European workers hand where taxes are a lot higher so you need to pay more for the worker wont make it better quality over Chinese people who get paid less cause of there economy difference. It's like European people are super human over Chinese people and that feels a bit racist

Funny, the Note20 Ultra i just brought 2 days ago came with the charger adapter and the AKG tunned earbuds.
A phone that's more repairable doesn't come with those, actually they removed the cables from the box too? 🤣
I don't respect Fairphone anymore.

5 years warranty is interesting. Will it also have 5 years when i buy it like end of the 2022 or something ? :D Also this android support that last to 2025 year end is only 4 years cause we already are in the end of 2021 and you have only 2 android updates that is a bit let down.

A good initiative but at a steep price.
As for the commercial, Dang I wanted to puke. Seriously a battery that laaaaaasts? Is it better that li-ion that only they possess? And E-Waste neutral? If I throw my old battery or display in the junk, how is that neutral?!?
For sure, it is much better to be able to repair everything even by myself rather than buying a new one, but such commercials do more bad than good. They should do better if they really want to make a difference!

This brand is setting a lot of goals way above what established brands offers. Sure, it's not necessarily a brand for a tech nerd like me, but they do deserve a lot of credit for trying to make the greedy planned-obsolesce industry a lot more sustainable.

So they removed the charger and cable from the box for the usual "e-waste" reasons, but also removed the headphone jack, forcing customers to buy wireless and discard their wired headphones, contributing a ton to e-waste.
A bit hypocritical, no?

I ... moreLet's not forget that the Fairphone 2, which is a 2015 smartphone shipped with Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box, received an official stable Android 9.0 Pie OS update earlier this year. So I doubt if Fairphone will not update their phones.

That’s how a sustainable phone is made (except for only two major updates), sadly because of the high price it’s not for the mass market. It would be a great start if other manufacturers made their phones more easily repairable, for example by using more screws instead of glue, or not pairing certain components to the motherboard like Apple and Samsung started to do (or if they do, at least offer first party spare parts like this company). I‘m still reluctant to swap the battery of my iPhone even though it’s in dire need of a new cell.
