The European iPhones already came with cables that allowed connecting a regular USB-A/USB-C charger (different cables available), much like today's Androids come with a cable that allows connecting the USB-C port to an USB-A charger.
People are overblowing this Lightning connector thing (for charging), that's the power of politics guess blended with blind fanboyism I guess. I would rather have them complaining about the USB 2.0 speeds, now there's something Apple should address.

That software runs f... moreI'm speaking from past experience : jailbreak an iPhone and it will absolutely go bananas, it will be full of glitches and hiccups, slow af, apps keep force closing and breaking. Basically, it will absolutely ruin your experience that was already bad because of all those software limitations.
Root an android phone and you just hit the jackpot! It will work the same or even better depending on what settings you're using (overclock the cpu or downclock it), completely disable adds, remove or add system apps etc.
It all depends on what type of user you are in the end.

I found a few online classifieds of fully functional used iPhone 11 sold for less than $400. Even the 11 Pro doesn't go beyond $600 from my findings.

Mostly because of all of those things you just mentioned. iOS is just artificially limited for no reason. The SoCs they are using are the fastest in the segment, but you can't even properly utilize the majority of it.

The new iPads are different. Everyone doesn't buy them and Apple noticed that the jump of a few hundred dollars won't affect the sales much. The reason is simple: some people are blind about USB-C.
