It was mostly used in Nokia Communicators/Nseries (Symbian S60 & S80), Windows CE & Mobile touchscreen devices and Palm OS devices with fingers & styluses.
As long as you don't use sharp objects, it will last as long as the usual glass screens.

Only premium brand ever existed is Vertu apart that other brands are just average brands for average prices like xiaommi, Meizu, Realme etc. And overpriced brands like Samsung, Sony, Apple etc.
Where an average brand can make a genuinely same device like overpriced brand for half the cost and sell for half the cost. Since everything is made in china cost are very low.

Another fact is that brands like Xiaomi or Meizu or Realme can sell genuinely same device for half price and make genuinely same device for half price.
The fact that apple overpricing everything only make true that apple is not worth not a status symbol etc.
If i really want to go for a premium phone and premium brand Vertu would be my first and only pick.
Other brands especialy Apple and Sony just making overpriced devices not worth the asking money.
And lastly i am from Slovakia its a small country with 5,5 mmillion people in heart of europe. And i run a phone shop company here. Since forst fold until now we sold only 3 of them. So the facts they selling faster than they make could be true if they make like 1000 devices a year globally. Othervise equally good bar phone plus tablet would cost same like folding device.
So rumors like Samsung is outselling folding phones are just a rumors based on a bare minimum they made.
Most countries worldwide lives from one salary to another and from a 600 eur average salary nobody will spend 1800 for a foldinng device where a 300 eur phone does same tricks.

Second, I personally using Fold 3 and surprisingly, overall it's a well-built device. Screen is not as like your normal smartphone. but they have components to protect the main screen.
Man just two things.
Its not a story and if i really would i would buy one but why if a 300 eur phone or tablet does same tricks for much less money and is lot more durable and with a good leather case will do the rest.
And the second thing JerryRigEverything proven these smartphones are very fragile and not woth the money. So why??? In case of durability and folding tests i trust more Jerry than Samsung promo videos where they show whathewer user wants to see to proe the product is worthy not the opposote.
For example they could test and film 1000 devices and the one with best results ended on a promo video.

Talking about real DOA issues, last I heard, the iPhone 13 component suppliers immediately debunked a fake rumour Apple tried to plant, that they're cutting back on production because of chip shortage, by saying there is no shortage. So, Apple simply can't sell any of the rebranded iPhone 12's. 🤣

Rather would do and shop at Caviar company for a premium device worth its money.
Folding phones were DOA for me as always because their durability went from zero to even worse especialy for inner screen which is completely fragile and have a durability of a dog toy bought on pawn shop for 1 eur.
