The notch would be a very stupid design for the laptop and imac series. The macOS has a permanent menu bar up there. And for softwares that have more menu stuffs (many creation apps are like that), this becomes a problem.

sadly i have 2 phones having notch - lg v50s and lg g8...
seldom use them anyway...
preferred the bezel on my xz2 compact (personal phone) and 1 ii (work phone)... no oddly shaped display on those...

What the heck is wrong with them .They have billions of dollars to do r and d and top engineers. Yet can't find a solution without a notch that too on a laptop. Terrible company.

It is better to have a pop up camera in laptop rather than a notch.
You get proper screen and some privacy.
Non motorized spring loaded is perfect.

It's weird i see at least 5mm of bezel go all around the screen on each sides. Maybe even more. At least on bottom there is 10mm for sure. Cant they have the selfie camera in that bezel ?
Would be nice to know the reason for the notch. Laptops dont need sensors in there and should have enough space for sensors in the bezel if these need to be there. With first notch argument was larger screen diagonal as larger number of screen inches. even tough you didnt benefit the larger screen size on the edges of the notch

Almost the only brand that currently offers a small bezel (but no notch nor punch hole), headphone jack, microSD card slot, symmetrically balanced front facing stereo speakers, fingerprint scanner and camera button. And my wife is selling her Pixel to get an Xperia 10 III which will lack a couple of these features but it is mostly similar to her 4a
On the laptop side of things both of us use Surface devices, which retain a symmetrical bezel all around but they have the best webcams around. Mine is the original Surface Book, and it is turning 5 years old next month. No major issues so far. My wife has the Surface Laptop 2 and it is working very well. I will upgrade to the Laptop Studio even though I will miss some of the Book unique features.

Possibly as they testing the market reaction before upcoming ip14 ...
If this success, then most likely the major player will put notch in their notebook design.

Is it really necessary to have it? See, the XPS lineup looks super sleek with the minimal and equally-sized bezels all around already, and that's essentially just what the Macbook needs in a redesign.
Oh well, Apple at it again at having to create another stupid trend that others will follow suit to.
