GAMIRSFM, 18 Oct 2021A notch on a laptop... why.The notch needs to go, it seriously has no place on a laptop. There are many laptops out there with bezels as thin as this without needing to resort to a notch. This just creates the unnecessary association between notches and thin bezels in the consumer's mind.

RAM replacement doesn't void you warranty unless manufacturer is a lets say bad and you don't outright replace RAM, but down the road, as you keep your laptop, you might want to upgrade.
And RAM isn't only thing which is sealed in MacBook , storage (which in most ultrabooks is replacabel since it is in standart m2 nvme slot) isn't user replaceable/upgradeable either . Have fun to get data out of your MacBook, when great Apple design kicks in and a fried capacitor makes your laptop won't boot, yet replacement cost $1200.

ABG Media, 21 Oct 2021I am talking about oled on phones, you are jumping to laptops. Whoa! How dimwit you are to talk of smartphones in a PC review article.
Anyways, I didn't know that smartphones nowadays has USB ports, too. How foolish of me to think that manufacturers are reducing the thickness of the smartphone. My bad.

Do you realise OLEDs hardly have 1/10th of market share as compared to LCD. And yet, according to you, there are EQUAL no. of other components (even components like motherboard, USB ports, etc. which, apparently are present in EVERY SINGLE working PC on the planet) that requires replacement.
DUMB😑😑
P.S: I use my laptop screen for ~14-15 hrs a day. I can't imagine having OLEDs instead of LCD. And there will be many like me, in this case

Anonymous, 19 Oct 2021Well then if talking about ultrabooks there are many availa... moreGet your concepts right first.
Mac is not merely about specifications, rather, an ecosystem. For example you CANNOT get any software like Final Cut, no matter what. And it IS a league ahead of any of the Windows app.
Nevertheless, there are NOT many ultrabooks that allow you to upgrade both RAM and storage. Most of them offers only RAM expansion and replacing that with yourself would cost you your warranty.
Iris Xe or Radeons are not even comparable with GPU performance of M1. Don't know how on earth can someone make such claims. I am able to edit 4K videos with multiple layers without any lag, that too, while using Rosetta.
Not to mention the kind of experience MacBooks offer. Be it keyboard response, trackpad feedback or its most important selling point- MacOS. There is a reason why Apple is selling double or triple in terms of quantity as compared to Spectre, XPS or Carbons. Just talking "higher is better" won't land you anywhere.

Great move by Apple to 14/16" from 13/15" as bezels get thinner. The displays are industry first, and quite useful indeed. I don't understand the utility of the support of the iOS apps though as MBPs don't offer touch interfaces. However, the KB design still falls short especially for the 16" model. No numpad in the 16" model is lame. Moreover, the function keys as secondary? Not a good idea when it comes to KB shortcuts.
