Sidekick is still on Froyo with Samsung singing the incompatibility soong. Get real, Samsung.

I agree that some of the apps are laggy but that's not because of jellybean . Poorly written apps will lag in any platform. May be most of the apps in play store is written for Gb or Froyo.once these are migrated you will get a better performance.

Is simple people complain about this fragmentation but the truth is there is only 1 REAL fragmentation and is ics and JELLY bean once i think that ANY device that runs ics can run JB.
2.3= Low end/mid range
4.1= high end phones
Its like apple selling the iphone 3g nowadays and putting ios 6 into it. makes no SENSE!!!!!!
The only fragmentation that harms android is the HARDWARE. if every high end device had the same screen and chipset they could run any app same for low end. Google should pick a chip to suppor every year.

Gingerbread is a very stable and capable operating system. Essentially the Windows XP of Android. Although it may not look as nice as Windows 7 or Vista (ICS and Jellybean), it can handle anything you throw at it.

I dont know what is wrong with gingerbread. It still has better features than what the latest ios and wp has to offer. It is stable and runs great on older and low end devices. No need to be updated to latest when old one works the way you want it. Dont fix what isnt broken. Look what ios6 did to the 3gs. It cant handle the new update but still its allowed to update without a way to downgrade. Compromising user experience just for the sake of updating?? Even old wp smartphones are stuck with 7.8 for a reason. If i were to buy a cheap android smartphone, having the option to be updated to the latest os is just a bonus.

Jelly Bean won't lag on 512 MB RAM. There are several YouTube videos showing Cyanogened Jelly Bean working on Galaxy Mini 1 (yes, Mini One) with no noticeable lag at all. So there is no reason to believe in HTC's update philosophy for not updating their 512 MB devices...

GB runs just fine: I'm able to check my email, listen to music, take photos, chat on Whatsapp, check the news and be on FB. Besides, I've heard JB is really laggy with 512 mb RAM. I don't get people's obsession with having the latest (car, phone, computer, whatever) when the "old" one (probably less than a year old) works fine.

I think it's very difficult to completely get rid off fragmentation either with hardwares getting outdated in no more than 6 months. Quite difficult to make progress in OS development making it beautiful,fast and awesome and simultaneously making it run on older hardware.
And why is that people only talk about fragmentation on Android? its there in iOS and windows phone too.
Though older iphones can run ios 6, they cannot have siri or other features of ios6 which is indeed fragmentation.
with windows phone, we all know there are quite a large number of phones which are yet to upgrade to 7.5 leave alone 7.8 or WP8
