Weird now they advertise 12 bit raw photos, when mark 2 and 3 already do it.

They ruined it with the 2X telescope camera. Huawei is much higher. What happened to x50 or x100..? X2.., really..? Lol..

GAMIRSFM, 26 Oct 2021I wonder how many people will buy such smartphone?I definitely will. 1" camera sensor on a smartphone is hard to come by, especially when you have variable aperture like what Samsung did before first hand with the Galaxy S9 and S9+. This is easily a worthy alternative to the Japan-only Sharp Aquos R6.

Great to see variable aperture again on a smartphone camera. I really miss that feature since Samsung first did it with the Galaxy S9 and S9+. Also, is it just me or this new model is significantly cheaper than last year's Xperia Pro? I remembered the Xperia Pro has a RRP of $2,500. $2,000 for a phone with 1" main camera sensor and 4K screen actually sounds like a good value.

Definitely better than the 1 iii for those who don't care about the dual periscope lens and prefer a main lens that will destroy the competition with lifelike colors and stellar quality.
I'm not a camera guy so I don't care as much. Keeping my 1 iii for now until the Mark IV comes in and does (hopefully) the three major things needed for my own perfection.

“It's a bit of a disappointment that Sony was unable to fit the 70mm-105mm variable-zoom periscope from the Xperia 1 III and Xperia 5 III in the Xperia Pro-I, though.”
The cameras on Xperia 1 iii and 5 iii are neither zoom nor variable. They are two fixed focal length telephoto cameras.

GAMIRSFM, 26 Oct 2021I wonder how many people will buy such smartphone? Some already appeared in this comment section. Whether they really are going to get the Pro-1 or just mandatory lip service as a Sony fanboy, we will never know...

This is a good phone for vloggers with the accessories. Sony clearly targeting a certain audience with this one. I think it's a great phone and I'm definitely gonna try to get one

So we pay for a 1" sensor, but actually only use a 1/1.33" part of it? Because 12 MP at 2.4 µm can be done with a 1/1.33" sensor already.

What about OIS? The ultrawide and zoom lens will be very bad though

Bigger sensor bla bla bla but in the end it doesn't do much better than other flagships. At least that's how it works with 1 III

Wouldn't be much better if you pick a cheap smartphone + a handheld camera at this price than buying this?

No for most users who are into Point and Shoot camera phones. This is for "Prosumers".
