X70 Pro Plus and Mi 11 Ultra still an better camera phone overall.

    1. Better processing
    2. Better zoom
    3. Better ultrawide camera
    4. Better nighttime photo
    5. Better video

Sony only wins in the cinema mode pro app, Vivo and Xiaomi's pro mode works for photo and videos on all of their lenses

i guess the price will be atleast 1500-2000$.

Why use an inch sensor when you aren't using it fully? Why did they thought of not using the full sensor

SuuperBaka, 26 Oct 2021Almost as if you ignored the 1 inch sensor with those 2.4um... moreIt's effectively 1/1.3 inch sensor when shooting stills, I'm afraid.

Anonymous, 26 Oct 2021Weird now they advertise 12 bit raw photos, when mark 2 and... moreNo, Mark II and III did not have a 12 bit sensor.

And it collects about the same amount of light as the iPhone 13 pro

So 1 inch is really not useful in this case.

                Finally..
It took them long enough to bring variable aperture when the sensor size is getting bigger and bigger.

In your review you mention that the phone is not for everyone.
Correct, it's again a niche market phone.
Sony will most likely have the same faith like LG with phones like this.

1800€ for a phone that takes crappy midrange looking photos is ridiculous (look at GSMA's hands on video). I'd rather buy two S21 Ultra or two Mi 11 Ultra with that money. Who would actually buy this?

Not pushed down the throat like apple and samsung do.

People when pay photographers to take photos of their wedding, graduation or birthday do not tell them to make photos unrealistic like some phones do.
Why do they want this from phone?

Still severely over priced but a step up from the pro.
Still probably shares a lot of short comings from the the pro and 1 iii though. But it's something

Actually legitimately suprised. Good stuff sony, Finally some direction, but yeah 1799 is not a normal person price tag.

I'm happy 1 inch is on its way

This is like what the 3rd or 4th 1" sensor smartphone?

So variable aperture solves the shallow depth of field issue with big sensors

But I dunno probably diminishing returns

Sony cameras need tones of manual control but not so great software /algorithms to enhance picture quality
