Apple releases macOS Monterey for Apple silicon and Intel-based Macs

Lot of emphasis on performance with Apple silicon but there are drawbacks to this design.
I am OK with Apple silicon on Macbook's because most notebooks have very little upgradability. But desktops is where I have issues with Mac's especially pro Mac's. I mean Apple silicon is a SoC design and worse no ability to upgrade anything not even a WiFi card, or RAM. You better plan for the future because once you choose your configuration your stuck with it. Basically your stick with a dead unit if anything happens with the hardware. So far I have yet to see the ability for Apple silicon to rise above enough to extend out its planned obsolesce to a reasonable point. Not only does this produce more eWaste but repair frustrations as well. I don't see the big advantage of Apple silicon overall except for Apple to save money.

It's not like... There is a competing ecosystem ready to take its place in the event of Microsoft not fixing things at their earliest.

Windows better? At least mac os updater works without leaking memory like crazy. Not long ago I was wondering why my work machine was so slow. I found out that windows update was taking 20gig of memory. After little googling I found out that this is known problem.
So no, Windows is not better. It is even worse than linux now days.

Most people are not willing to pay for Windows license that's like 100€ for genuine OEM version and you expect them to grab a 1500€ device just to have MacOS ? Who are you fooling here?
And Microsoft realized that, which is why it's slowly converting from OS licensing to "free s**t for everyone" and just mine user data just like Google is doing. If it's working great for them, it'll also work great for Microsoft. Mostly because they are covering different markets and it might actually work. It's not cool for the users though which is evident from dreaded forced mandatory need to use Microsoft Account login with Windows 11 Home (but not with Pro which supports offline local account).

If u need unix comamands, u can just install linux with WSL.
windows + linux is a great combination.
mac os is useless.

Mac OS is the alien operating system that people don't care about trying... simply coz windows just works!!! and they have exactly zero reason to switch to an OS that can only do 20% of what Windows can.

I cant see anything that should confuse anyone, and the learning curve is milder than for windows. Its not the same as windows but who expected it to be, theres no need for standardising shortcuts only because a very few persons are confused. Im a Microsoft professional but i can easily get around any OS, be it mac or linux, gui or command line, even Novel. Sorry to break it to you, your problem is very uncommon. 50 year old ladies at the office arent confused, only you.

Monterey also has a smaller computer footprint, making it faster on older equipment. It leverages the numeral matrix modes of the T2 which is a nice touch.
