04 December, 2012
The operation will help bring €170 million, which should help the troubled company in the short term.

Anonymous, 04 Dec 2012Microsoft is giving them money. And the ceo is a Microsoft ... moreI agree, the first thing he did was to kill the MeeGoo n Belle.
Discourage the user to look for another operating system, and guess what Google strike with android before he can make Nokia go Microsoft way.

i think RIM will be the first to go. Nokia refused to follow suggestions and advice from users and Dealers in West Africa. Now they will pay dearly for such arrogancy and neglect.

tomm, 04 Dec 2012normal process companies do today...You are right, Samsung and Apple already sold their HQs and are now running their companies from military surplus tents and a trailer park, respectively.

Anonymous, 04 Dec 2012Microsoft is giving them money. And the ceo is a Microsoft ... moreInteresting to see what the agreement is between Microsoft and Nokia. I think Nokia WILL develop an Android phone but at this stage they cannot discuss or praise the Android platform because of a clause in their contract which might read something like the following:

"The undersigned hereby agrees that it will remain exclusively loyal to the development of the WP platform and can in no way suggest or make reference to development of devices on other platforms..."

                  We'll see!

AnonD-85006, 04 Dec 2012Why not go with all the platforms as Sammy is doing. Nokia ... moreWell that is exactly my point. They already have WP and for some weird reason still develop Symbian phones (which is good for low end) but Samsung are literally dominating at the moment, and I can see Samsung doing something further in the photography industry (having tested the Galaxy Camera - Amazing!).

Nokia really need to put wheels in motion. WP is still quite a new platform and they cannot expect massive profits from a growing platform when the market is still heavily dominated by Android and IOS. Lets think back, when Nokia released the Maemo N900 (which I bought sim free) this was an amazing phone which could do so much compared to Android and IOS but lack of support from both Nokia and developers soon saw this OS die a quick death.

I think this is where RIM will fall as well. They also need to develop for a new platform or allow the use of the BBM service on other platforms. I think they may profit quite heavily from this.

Android may have its issues, but it clearly dominates and is the obvious choice of platform for the majority of people who do not and will not own an iPhone.

As per my analysis, Nokia will die/finish if

                              1) It not move to Android OS or launch OS which compete Android and attract Android Market.

                              2) Not compete Android market with same count of Apps for Windows phone.

Statement of nokia fanboys: "Google? Oh that shit company with shit products? No way! We hate google as nokia taught us to hate google! We use symbian(past) its better than android, meego is the best(past) its better than android! WP is the best(now) its better than android!

These are sad news, and it's all Elop's fault. He should have choose Android instead of Windows, or he should focus on Meego, but he didn't! Now they will going down.

They can't do other ecosystems both because the ceo does not want it and because Microsoft would reduce the paycheck. If they go Android they are on their own, and soon is to late to join the winning team.

Still this is good news, it makes it visible for everyone what a disaster Elop is. We know wp8 will fail and then Elop is out, no way the shareholders will let him do one more round with a defective OS.
