IDC: Android and iOS to stay on top by 2016, WP to progress slowly

z, 05 Dec 2012used android for the last 3 yrs and last month, i dump gnex... moreI find that Android basic feature like keyboard is not good. I cannot text as fast on my S3 compared to my old iPhone 4.
It is not the speed and not the smoothness issue, i suspect it is the design of the android keybaord that I made more mistakes easily. I did a search and found Swye but it is still not as good as Apple's keyboard. Hope Key Lime Pie will improve on this.

On WP8 they offer something different.
If they go to android they cant compete with Samsung on the hardware side except for cameras.

iOS and Nokia are crap and a wa... moreIf you see technology trend, no technology can dominate FOREVER. what goes up will come down. Android may rules for the coming years but some other technology will take over utilmately.
The only exception is Windows (desktop OS, NOT the mobile) which is the desktop OS leader forever.

Android and iOS bring innovations continuously, well more Android than iOs, so they will remain on top long long time!

Sorry but this is the worst prediction ever. Blackberry and WP will not be with us in 2016 anymore. iOS will lose traction a little bit. Android and perhaps a new player will lead the way.

I think there is still room for one more major player, Firefox os or Tizen, who will offer good experience on sub $100 devices.

very interesting to say the least. I can see android being on top because it does add more of a variety compare to the other OS. iPhone is the only device running IOS, Blackberry is the only one running its OS, Nokia is becoming the exclusive windows phone device so of course its options are also cut. Now if we talk about android and all the devices that runs it, then these numbers are a clean given. Unless Google goes bankrupt or something like that i don't see the other OS getting anywhere close.

I think that IDC is totally inventing these predictions. I can not see how anyone, regardless of platforms preference or manufacturer support, can possibly predict how the industry is going to look like in 2016. It's already quite a mission to tell how the market will look like just in March 2013 with way better sale figures at their disposal. Now they want to guess what will happen 3 years from now? In an industry that is notoriously known for being probably the most dynamic in the world at present. I think that IDC shouldn't waist time in spreading these predictions with no base & no traction

No one seems to understand that IOs and android will start to fail and we need new fresh O/S to replace them..In 2004 Symbian rules with windows 2003 ,Palm and BB.No one could predict Android ,IOS or Bada or Meego..These old O/S are coming to an end or have gone like Windows 6.5 and Palm...Nothing lasts forever and things do go in circles..In the future have the tinniest fone will become trendy again and clamshells..It will happen.
I always stick up for Nokia because they give me some of the best years of my life.
