Sony smartphone division's revenue is up 25% YoY for Q2 2021

In Sony's earnings report, the company shows significant improvement in its Mobile Communications division and the company's overall revenue is up 12.5% YoY.

Regardless of how little number of units they sold, they still managed to get better sales every year.

And isn't it foolish to think that Sony isn't considered to be a powerful brand in smartphone division yet the fans from more known smartphone companies are still intrigued by what Sony is doing? Really goes to show how much impact Sony has in every division that they're competing in.
Imagine if Sony did take marketing on smartphones seriously and re-opened their Xperia business across the world, I bet others would be in big trouble already with greater presence from them.

Anyway this is a good news and a major relief from those ridiculous comments saying that Sony will exit mobile like LG, which they have been saying already since like 2015.

    Imagine their sales if they released their phones when they announce them. And if they do that at the beginning of the SoC's lifespan instead of near to when the next one comes out. Sony could very easily form their own niche and keep on surviving if they would do that in addition to having decent battery life on the 1 series and providing at least 3 years of OS updates to all their phones.

      What did most people say about "no one will buy Sony phones" anyway? In my country, Sony Xperia lineup made a comeback since last year and demand keeps on coming in despite limited availability and its price tag. Even a friend of mine, who used to be a Xiaomi head, recently sold his Mi 11 Ultra for a brand new Xperia 5 Mk3 and never looked back.

              [deleted post]Why the hate like this, or are you trolling? How are they inferior then Sony phones are the only I think who doesn't have a punch-hole or notch in their displays? They still offer 3.5 jack and microSD, led notification light, good cameras with no non-sense 2 Mp macro, high quality body construction and many others. They are not cheap, but they are one of the best out there. So please tell me sincerely, why are they inferior? Looks like the net nowadays is full of kids and trolls..

                Very happy to know. I hope Sony succeeds in achieving even greater heights.
