For example, Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 was with glass back and its successor Note 9 already has plastic back. And it continues to current model too, Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 which was revealed lately has plastic back as well. Also other brands, e.g. Realme 6 Pro had glass back, then its successor Realme 7 pro already switched to plastic back, and it continued to Realme 8 pro which also has plastic back. Samsung too - Galaxy S10 had a glass back, S20 too, but the newest current model Galaxy S21 already has plastic back. Which current model phone had a predecessor with plastic back and current model with glass back? None. The trend is clear.
Your "preference" in glass is best shown in how literally every owner of glass back phone puts a plastic case (either TPU or silicone, or sometimes leather) on it right away so the stupid glass won't shatter. Admit it, glass back on phones is a gimmick that went way too far and customers are already fed up with it. It isn't that anyone would prefer glass, customers just tolerate it because you buy a phone as a whole package with everything, you don't get to choose what material it's made of so you always have to make compromises. But the preference for material is clearly shown in that every owner of a glass phone immediately slaps a plastic case on it and keeps it on for the whole life of the phone so that back glass isn't even visible ever throughout that phone's whole life.

As someone who's owned a plethora of glass phones, there is no "good glass". Mohs hardness scale exists for a reason. Softer materials crack/shatter less easily but scratch more easily. Harder materials scratch less easily but crack and shatter more easily. So there's no "good glass", let alone glass that's better than plastic. From an objective standpoint they're their own categories. From a subjective standpoint, people prefer a usable phone with scratched back over almost unusable often borderline dangerous phone with shattered back.

And I've never experienced any sort of eye strain with an OLED. However, since LCDs release more light than necessary at all times, I can see why someone would experience eye strain with an LCD.

joe nodden, 01 Nov 2021Get back to me when you find someone who prefers a plastic ... moreIn terms of durability a good plastic is better than glass, look at the old Lumias, were built very good. About AMOLED, I was a fan also till I found that some AMOLED's are causing eye fatigue to me because of PWM. And I'll better have a good LCD than a low end AMOLED.

Mobilemaster, 29 Oct 2021Did you try the device, so how do you know the camera sucks?I didn't say the cameras suck. Don't put words into my mouth. I said they're "eh" because they do have a 48MP sensor, but 48MP sensors on budget phones generally aren't the best. They're even worse when paired with a slow Helio chipset.
I don't need to test a phone to know how it performs. Why the hell do you think this website exists? To not look at specs?

Sc... moreHonestly the Chinese does not design much of theirs either, all parts are mostly coupled from all sorts of random places except the main board... So lets see screen can be Samsung, LG or BOE, battery and glass most likely from japan, SoC is made by TSMC or Samsung so Taiwan or South Korea in other words EVERY MAJOR COMPONENT IS MOST LIKELY NOT FROM CHINE EXCEPT MAYBE THE PLASTIC ONES!

Yes, it is assembled in Bocholt (Germany), and not at some random ODM at PRC.
So what if parts are not from Germany? Assembly is in Germany.
Also, all parts are not from PRC at all, and you have no idea that phones don't have CPU and GPU as separate parts... They have SoCs, and Helio G85 is manufactured at TSMC in Taiwan. Many phones' parts are also manufactured in Vietnam.

Screen, battery, camera and other sensors, CPU, GPU, speakers, all come from China. The shell parts themselves (frame, rear glass, front glass) also probably come from China.
