Anonymous, 17 Nov 2021Every video rendering, model rendering, graphics rendering ... moreand yet non of this will ever be done on a smartphone....EVER! the odd bit of video editing for insta/tiktok or other social media channels perhaps a little bit, increasing ram on smartphones is nothing more then a selling point, bigger numbers and all that

AlwaysLate, 17 Nov 2021What will you even do with that much ram lmao
Even PCs ... moreWhat did you just say there? PC struggles with 16GB RAM?
what pc do you mean? win 7 32bit?
Its standart to have 32GB RAM in high end PCs these days. Even 64GB is common if you use render software

All I need from Android phones these days is better software for video editing. Kinemaster is not enough, others has water-mark...
And why can't we use computer softwares on phones yet??

rizki1, 17 Nov 2021this is really an overkill for the phone, not necessarily t... moreThink of it like moving something from your drawers to your desk. It's easier to grab something when it's in arm's reach, but you can't keep everything on your desk, so you need a place to store items when they're not in use.
Let's say you're playing a game on your phone, but then you get a phone call. There's a very good chance that, once your phone call is done, you'll go back to that game. When you answer the call, your phone keeps the game loaded in memory. As soon as you end the call and re-open the game, it should pop right back up exactly where you left off. You don't need to reload the entire app, or lose your progress. It's just there.
This means the more stuff you have loaded into memory the better (Android phones don't need a task killer because they automatically kill apps you haven't used in a while). It also means the more memory you have the better.

Even PCs ... moreIn general, an Android will use more RAM than iPhone because they’re performing more processes in the background to either optimize, or load more of an experience. You may end up with more RAM “free” on an iPhone, but that’s just space that isn’t being used to its full potential.
Remember that RAM that isn’t being used may as well be wasted space on Android. That doesn’t mean you should open as many processes as possible, but that you shouldn’t get worried if you only see a couple hundred megabytes of RAM available.

AlwaysLate, 17 Nov 2021What will you even do with that much ram lmao Even PCs ... moreFurthermore, clearing out the RAM may become an endless war between you and the operating system. If Android keeps pulling data into the RAM, it is because it likely needs it for some reason or another. Kill it and the operating system will be left wondering: “Hey, where did that file go? Let’s put it back in there.” You will then kill the task again and the dance will go on endlessly. You’ll also waste a lot of battery power in the process.

Even PCs ... moreThe benefit of RAM memory is that it allows for the interface to operate more efficiently. Say you open the Facebook app. The first time it is launched it will take a while to start up, as it has to load a plethora of content to show you. You can then leave the app and return to it. The second time you access it, launching will take much less time, as it will grab all the files from the RAM and utilize what is still relevant.
Now, imagine what happens if you get rid of all data stored in the RAM. As expected, when opening an application again, it will actually make the experience slower than it would if all that information was readily available to the operating system.

I don't like my phones with less than 32GB of RAM. It is a waste to have phones with just 18GB RAM...

Once you have at least 6 GB of RAM, it doesn't matter anymore. This would be more helpful in times when Android didn't "freeze" background apps, but now it's utter nonsense to have more than 8 GB. However killing background apps is good for the vast majority of users who "close" apps by using the home button, otherwise their battery would quickly drain.
