That's amazing. I am looking forward to using Tidal for a long time. The $10/month HIFI plan seems attractive. I am ready to use my Tidizer to save my favorite Tidal HIFI tracks onto the local device.

g., 20 Nov 2021Look up "I published music on Tidal to test MQA - MQA ... moreThanks for the video reference. I've always thought something was up with MQA. Also, I used to think the white noise he talks about was something that MQA uncovered that other files "lost". Even if MQA was great though, I still wouldn't use Tidal lol. I quit Deezer because of an awful customer service response I saw. But in these days, company hostility towards their patrons seems to be the new norm. Pretty awful.

Meh. Still won't use Tidal. I have used it before and it's a great service, but it shoves everything hip hop and R&B in your face. That's great for fans of that genre but it's like, whoa, give me a second to breathe here. I really want to use it, but just simply can't. I've been using Amazon for a while and I think it's pretty good. The interface still needs work, but I think it will improve over time.

Limeware, Bareshare... moreYou know, I moved from pirated music to a spotify premium account some three years ago, but every time I find some music unavailable either completely, or just in my country, or some feature I want, but their applications don't provide I really do miss the days of just having everything I want the way I want it. All the archaic region specific copyright bs needs to stop.

I used to listen to Tidal but no more due to the MQA issues that are becoming well known now in the community.

"Due to these reasons, and the shady business practices of MQA in general, is why audiophiles generally recommend avoiding Tidal for those who seek true lossless audio."

Take a look at Spotify, without Hifi.
They are overpriced and most people only attracted by social features, which is so hilarious. Spotify also has very low payouts to artists ( per stream )

I've telling people about Deezer or Tidal, most do not care. They are so reluctant and dumb. If you're new, subscribe to Deezer or Tidal or Apple Music, (depending on the price range).

Please refrain your negativity around mqa. Through my system mqa does sound better and I'm happy to pay more for that extra ounce of quality. Granted, you need a really good system and your full attention to appreciate mqa, and no, your $200 dac / $500 speakers are not a really good system.

In 2017 they announced masters quality which was a game charger for music streaming services and they've dominated in quality, but now look in 2019 Amazon launched their lossless quality and May 2021 made it free for customers. Deezer announced CD quality in FLAC format in 2017. Apple music announced lossless quality this year and Spotify announced their bringing their lossless in 2022

Tidal paved the way but everyone jumped on the wagon and copied it. Makes tidal no longer special in sound quality.

But honestly you need a good pair of quality headphones to even hear a difference, don't think £170 airpods 3rd generation will make a difference. You need Sennheiser's . Sony WF-1000XM4......

You may benefit with high sample rate audio though because it takes the complexity off the DAC in regards to oversampling and digital filter design however. That is the true benefit to native high resolution audio.

chris1998, 18 Nov 2021I don't think MQA is a sham mate, i just think u need ... moreGood to hear that that its not as biased but MQA is not even lossless. It is a lossy format that relies on proprietary hardware to decode and the company making it gets paid whatever it is encoded or decoded because of the hardware requirement, so what's also looked at as a money-making and control thing.

It's already been looked at with a critical eye since 2017 but it finally became mainstream this year. The entire concept of mqa also is a very tall ask when most music is mastered or recorded in PCM at some point and done quite loudly. So that's like wrapping MP3 in FLAC and claiming it's lossless. None of these fancy formats even really benefit when you get into loud mastering because then it's all concerned with preserving minutiae because there's just and distortion flat levels all over.

unxpctd, 18 Nov 2021My problem with Tidal is MQA is a sham and the platform has... moreI don't think MQA is a sham mate, i just think u need a solid pair of headphones to truly notice and appreciate it. I'll be honest I've got £80 Huawei freebuds 4i headphones and I honestly can't tell a difference in the "HiFi" sound and then "Masters" which is MQA. Has to be high end headphones like £300 bose or Bang & olufsen.... And as for Rap orientated, I'm 50/50 I listen to alot of EDM music(Dubstep, House, Techno, Drum and bass) and I've got a 350 song playlist of drum and bass songs in my tidal playlist. But jayz did have a 80% stake in tidal so expect there to be a lot of rap
