You don't get it, do you ? Most people are NOT interested in iOS especially at it's thousand dollar price. Xperia 5 III and Zenfone aren't available in most place globally and the iPhone SE is not even a flagship

6.28-inch screen looks lovely. This should be "Mini" version due to modern trends. But sounds good. Hope that Xiaomi doesn`t cut rest of specs like battery, OIS, etc)

There's plenty of flagship compact phones like the Asus Zenfone 8, Sony Xperia 5 III, iPhone SE 2020, iPhone 12 Mini etc... But people like to moan about literally everything. They ignore what's already available, and then complain that they can't find what they want. Not that compact phones are successful like you said. Barely anyone considers them apart from the weird people that have baby hands.

There were some rumors that the Mi 11 Lite would be a smaller phone too and it turned out to be a typical Xiaomi big phone. I hope this is true about the 12X, but I'll only believe it when I see it. The most comfortable phones I've owned recently are the Xiaomi Mi A3 and Google Pixel 4a. The iPhone 12 and 13 look to be a perfect size too, but I'm not a fan of iOS. I gave up on the Zenfone 8 after the long delay to finally be released in North America, but I'm still watching prices on it.

I’m much more interested in the Xiaomi 12 Lite 5G. Hopefully, this 12X is not a replacement for the Lite version. It probably isn’t, though, as it has a high-end SoC and will probably fit somewhere between the vanilla Xiaomi 12 and the Xiaomi 12 Lite 5G.

As long they dont cut corners elsewhere - read: camera, battery.

But current generation of compact phones is in the price range of flagships and not midrange devices, which is what the majority is looking for. I had the chance to try out the iPhone 12 mini and I consider the size ideal, yet I wouldn't buy such a costly device. If an Android smartphone with midrange processor and similar size came up, I'd consider buying (been looking for the flip 3, but this one is also quite expensive).

With midrange CPU and extremely cheap build.
Sales do not reflect if device is good of not.
G3 and G4 sold very else, both had many issues with bootloop, motherboard and screen.
Something you did not see about G7 and G8.

Guys, those numbers are not device's size, they are DISPLAY size. Some of you got it, some of you didn't. It is going to be something like 150 mm tall and 69 mm wide. Just like Galaxy S20. The price is a big deal becouse S20 is 600 euro and Xiaomi should go a bit lower than that. We'll se about that...
