Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 to skip S Pen slot

20 November 2021
That's hardly a surprise since its predecessor doesn't have one either.

AnonD-1027450, 20 Nov 2021Cuz when apple release a fold or flip Samsung gonna lose 50... moreAu contraire!

Samsung will be stup*d to improve the Foldables "as much as they can" or too quickly.

They've been working on foldables for more than a decade and need to recoup their R&D costs. That means minute, incremental generational changes and keeping the competition out of their pie for as long as possible.

The minute Samsung releases a Fold without compromises; Xiaomi, Oppo, and co will release a Fold with compromises and undercut Samsung in price. Apple will then swoop in after Samsung and the new Chinese competition have built a robust, resilient, cost-effective supply chain to launch a Fold clone with flat edges+notch, iOS, the Bionic chipset, top-notch camera, 5 years of updates, good battery life, and exceptional marketing.

And within 2 years, the Z line will become like the S line where Samsung has lost all competitiveness because you can get an Android flagship killer with the latest high-end chipset and fast charging for $599 or an iPhone with all of the qualities mentioned earlier for $799.

I think it is in Samsung's best interest to offer the Foldables as a premium niche device like the Note but stretch out how long it takes to iron out the kinks until the 8th to 10th generation. Meaning no Flip or Fold Lite. Keep that going long enough and the Z line will be the first choice for anyone who is remotely interested in a foldable.

And whenever the Chinese finally find a way to cut corners, launch a new budget N line of foldables with the same playbook as the A series.

vrvly, 20 Nov 2021Future Fold is expected to feature better cameras than ordi... moreCuz when apple release a fold or flip Samsung gonna lose 50% of the market mostly because apple's fold or flip are much more mature
and they have to share that 50% with cheap Xiaomi
So Samsung needs to improve fold and flip as much as they can to reduce impact

Future Fold is expected to feature better cameras than ordinary phone, so it can be called true flagship, but the future is not now. No competition here even, why to try hard...

Anonymous, 20 Nov 2021The Galaxy S series with an S pen slot is basically the Gal... moreNope 😃

                  Good job Samsung

I'd rather have a standard sized pen rather than having teeny sized pen that went in to a silo like the days of Galaxy Note. It may be less convenience but big pen is way way more comfortable to use.

The Galaxy S series with an S pen slot is basically the Galaxy Note series. So will it be renamed the Galaxy Note 22 Ultra?

Yes, they should put a pen slot in the Z Fold. The inner display is perfect for doodling and use with an S pen.
