Anonymous, 02 Dec 2021You're asking the difference between desktop graphics ... moreNope wrong Desktop still uses Immediate Mode which is less efficient than Tile Based Deferred Rendering in Mobile.

Anonymous, 02 Dec 2021You're asking the difference between desktop graphics ... moreYou're right but in this context which is the Nintendo Switch, not really. Obviously, a desktop is going to be more powerful than mobile because of thermal limits but the Switch graphics only shares the same architecture with its desktop counterparts and it's comparable to Intel HD Graphics...which is weak. It was already outdated on release when there was a successor which is Tegra X2, granted the Switch was designed for Tegra X1. A docked Switch is on par with a Snapdragon 835 (Adreno 540) device while undocked is on par with a Snapdragon 670 (Adreno 615) device based on GFXBench. Now that the Switch is four years old, devs are really limited to its capabilities.

Perhaps I'm really being old school, but I'm fine with GameCube graphics. When I play my PS4 games, I found them mostly boring. Nice to look at but mostly boring. I ended up using my PS4 for mostly Netflix and watching stuff from my external hard drive.
I've seen photo realistic graphics. I've seen NBA 2K22 in which it's almost a photo realistic Michael Jordan. But there is still this simple charm and fun from many games from the 4th through 6th gen. I feel that was the golden age of gaming. From NES to GameCube. I don't need games above those eras.

The Flip, 02 Dec 2021It's not too late. What's out there but a Switch ... moreI mean, we've had phone / tablets hardware that's perfectly capable of gaming since handheld consoles were a thing and they're A LOT more powerful since they get updated every year. The reason why AAA gaming devs wouldn't make a legitimate console game for mobile is because they don't trust the market...but problem is they never tried. Like imagine those really old Nintendo / PS2 games but optimised for phones, that'd be pretty nice but all we get is repetitive shovelware. Then PUBGM and Genshin Impact came and really turned the tables...but look when was it released and also what business model they used? Something like a $30 game (not ported) that'd be worth playing is what I want. Mobile gaming is definitely booming but I feel like it's still geared to casuals. Just my two cents.

They focus on android for now?
Just why ... This will have a lot of optimization issues ... Unless google announced a new android/interface that focus solely on gaming...

Mobile gaming is booming and will continue to do so. That's why Apple is releasing a Switch competitor and Samsung partnered with AMD which made chipsets for the PS4 and PS5.

This is really interesting but why now? It seems really late for Qualcomm to focus in the gaming market. Hopefully, this can give Nintendo a run for a money since they're still stuck with the archaic chipset.

As long as any hardware (be it, console, set-top box etc) running said version of Android has a de-Googled version, then count me as interested...
