If g57 mp6 (huawei) is comparable to 642l in 778g, I wonder how strong will g510 mp6 be

This looks like a Dimensity 900 series replacement to me.

I ditch Mediatek SoC last 2015, due to abnormal heating issues was using Asus Zenfone 3 back then. I could barely use it, hot to the touch.

Then recently, I decided to give my try for Dimensity 1100 and I am amazed how well thermals are. Just a bit warm that's all over extended periods of gaming. More efficient.

Now, I felt bad for Snapdragon 860, very laggy when it becomes hot, shame.

I am now looking forward for Mediatek future SoC.

        No V9!
Then why name it as 7000? Use any existing v8 chipset names. Nothing wrong with the configuration but it all depends on which category mediatek is going to place this chip.

I think this'll end up as a good proposition if it's priced right. It should be cheaper for manufacturers to use this over the SD870.

Oh and TSMC FTW! As long as their process nodes are involved it can't be bad.

Petunia, 29 Nov 2021Not necessarily. TSMC has improved the production of N5 a l... moreEven with improved dies, N5 should be expensive than N6 which at that time, was cheaper than N7 and N7pro because that was its purpose, being N4 the "cheaper version" this time around.

By these calculations, N5 was a whopping 1.8x expensive than N7
            https://hardwaresfera.com/en/noticias/hardware/precio-oblea-tsmc-5nm/

There's no way N5 has reduced its cost that much, especially when the problem is still the lack or more EUV machines, and N5 uses them for much more layers than N6.

whoa,, thats considerable drop on chip design from A710 to A78,, especially A510 to A55. why Mediatek??

dude111, 29 Nov 2021Probably more expensive because of N5. This chip makes n... moreNot necessarily. TSMC has improved the production of N5 a lot, which leads to less defect density and thus less costs. So, producing an N5 chip this year may be cheaper than producing an N6 chip last year.

Anonymous, 29 Nov 2021Price cheaper than dimensity 1200? Or more expensive? Probably more expensive because of N5.

This chip makes no sense at all tbh as 1200 should be more performant too.

Sad that they aren't using the new ARM v9 architechture, but I guess they have to cripple it so the Dimensity 9000 shines more. Other than that, it will be surely a great chipset. I expect numbers that are close to SD888, which would be hella solid. Especially since heat and battery drain will be better.

Previously I said that Qualcomm should upgrade the SD870 to 5nm process, overclock the CPU & GPU, and name it, say, SD875 for their high-end 2022 chip. But after seeing this Dimensity 7000 alleged specs, I'm afraid that my version of SD875 wouldn't be enough to challenge it.
Now I think it needs the A710 & A510 cores & a new Adreno on 5 nm process (no need flagship X1 or X2 cores though) to go head to head with this Dimensity.
                          SD880 or SD885 please?

I just wish my Dimensity 1200 had a G78 GPU instead of the same old G77-MC9 used in the 1000/+ , just to make it more futureproof, as of now it plays all the games very well without heating very much.

No ARM V9. Disappointing, even for a mid-range SoC. ☹️

So its basically dimensity 1250 or whatever (and that's a good thing)
