If you head over to XDA developers, you'll see that Chainfire has already applied a fix for the issue.

AnonD-79514, 17 Dec 2012all android viruses are only made by apple and evil microsoft!Viruses and bugs are rampant on Android because of the open source software. Google shouldn't let these manufacturers and carriers modify anything.

lol, 17 Dec 2012OMG ... android and samsung does it again ... security secu... moreThis is, by no means, an Android problem. If you were to go out and buy a HTC One X, it wouldn't have this issue, as it doesn't use an Exynos SoC.
As for the Samsung thing... building a secure system is much harder than you think. Especially when the platform is designed with freedom and diversity in mind, rather than going for a 'walled-garden' approach.

Naturally, an open ecosystem is harder to defend than a tightly controlled one, but if you ask me, they do a pretty good job of it.

Regarding security, the advantage of the open ecosystem is demonstrated in this very article. A security issue is detected (by the community) and a member of the community steps up, finds a fix for the problem, and releases it to everyone, including the manufacturer, so they can work the fix in to their next software upgrade, and all future devices.

This way the problem gets sorted within a matter of days, instead of relying on the manufacturer to do all the work.

And give me a evidence that some.one posted here to avoid samsung devices. I guess it hurts your ego that some one found a glitch at the security. And to think that flagships are in trouble here.

chrwl007, 17 Dec 2012If Samsung's devices could actually make telephone calls...... moreI have a note which never lives up to the hype - it is far from a notebook replacement, but excellent at many things, mainly reviewing documents. However, I use a BB9900 as a daily mobile. Samsung produces good products but not spectacular when you see what they can actually do. Android does have Google spyware issues and you have to accept you are providing free information to Google about your habits, etc.

If Samsung's devices could actually make telephone calls... my brother's Note doesn't have service half the time, while my Nokia and his BlackBerry have almost full signal strength on the exact same mobile network.

Yeah...big deal...this "exploit" is used to root devices. So please stop comment if you don't know what this is really about. If you're an Apple fan, don't overjoy, this is less dangerous than cydia and installous :).

Anonymous, 17 Dec 2012XDA are mad at samsung cuz they didn't release source files... moreWell, they did a great work 'cause I'm a little scared. I don't have many worries since I usually install Playstore apps which are under the spotlight and have a good ammount of reviews.

As for the XDA team well, I really wissh Sammy had released the source code for the Exynos SoC and I have to give it to them this time. The Note II is a great phone but the more open it is, the better.

why is there an attack on Samsung and Google every day by analysts, tech developers and commenters who wants to stop SAMSUNGS and GOOGLES progress by feeding false information to the public to stop them buying these products. The products mentioned here are Samsungs top sellers and i am sure there are other products using this same chip by other brands that are not mentioned..
