I never owned an LG phone so i can't really say i'll miss them, but seeing as how Chinese phones are bloating up the market these days, it's pretty unfortunate
No choice but to stick to Samsung and Apple, even thoy're one of the greediest companies on the planet removing features and things every year just to get some more sweet money, there's really nowhere left to go anymore

I stopped buying LG phones in 2014. Specifically the LG G3. Great phone, ahead of its time with screen to body ratio. But they couldn't create a compelling phone since that time.

To me, the fact that you need an online service to unlock a bootloader is a big red flag.
Why is Android so bad at EVERYTHING?

Since LG supports bootloader unlocking for few recent phones mostly in european market, this mostly concerns euroepan users of LG phones. Many older LG phones, including LG G3 (the best supported LG phone for LineageOS), has never had official bootloader unlock. Here is complete list of phones which bootloader can be unlocked using LG developer website:

              • LG VELVET: LMG900EM/LMG900EMW/LMG900EMX/LMG900D for the European market
              • LG V60: LMV600EA for the European market
              • LG V50S: LMG850EMW/LMG850EMWX for the European market
              • LG G8S: LMG810EM/LMG810EMW/LMG810EAW for the European market
              • LG V50: LMV500EM for the European market
              • LG V40: LMV405EBW for the European market
              • LG G7: LMG710EM for the European market
              • LG V30: H930/H930G for the European market
              • LG G6: US997/US997Z for the U.S. open market
              • LG G6: H870 for the European market
              • LG V20: US996/US996Z/US996D for the U.S. open market
              • LG V10: H960A for the European market and Android M (Except France)
              • LG G5 SE: H840 for the European market
              • LG G5: RS988 for the U.S. open market
              • LG G5: H850 for the European market
              • LG G4: H815/H818P for the European market

LG is a giant conglomerate, so shutting down mobile division doesn't mean it's going out of business as a company. They should be generous to offer unlocking bootloader for ALL LG phones at this point, not shutting down bootloader unlocking for few LG phones they offer this option at this point. LG phones may not be sold anymore, but how company supported it's phones impact how people view it's brandname in considering purchase of other LG products in the future.

That the mobile division is dead, does not mean that LG as a brand is dead.

So if they treat their customers poorly here, it will rub off on their many many other products with the same brand....

LG always used the best hardware on their smartphones ... but software development was the worst : this is the main reason for leaving the mobile division !

Less than a year after last device was released... Hmm a company that size ought to offer better service. I hope they at the least mail all registered owners directly with this...
