Some NVMe SSDs get slower with Windows 11 installed on them

08 December 2021
Sequential speeds seem okay - sometimes they even improve - but random writes and especially reads take a big hit in performance.

And I was thinking it was my pc only. Thankfully its global. Yeah it sometimes so slow that it 16GB RAM laptop looks like 128mb ram laptop. Most affected is opening video file using vlc it takes ages to open...

Do not upgrade, 08 Dec 2021Typical response and excuses same as android. Don't up... moreDon't update ain't a good solution, in windows it's fine because youd still get security updates on win 8.1 10 and 11, but on phones you won't keep getem if let's say Android 12 was out for a specific phone, it's all about the security updates not new features or Android update.

I see no problem to stick with Windows 10 for the time being.

Typical response and excuses same as android. Don't upgrade.

Don't buy new hardware like Intel 12 gen and use Windows 10.. else Windows 10 can't play DRM games. Don't install Windows 11.. not iron out.
Don't upgrade android else something breaks.. Anything broken, no where to ask because no one uses your phone / PC or same setup, everyone uses different.. then calm yourself and give yourself excuses because they had to support so many hardware..

              Copying Android 11's SAF.

GAMIRSFM, 08 Dec 2021More reasons to not upgrade yet.I can agree with that. There are still loads of problems that need to be fixed. It's a similar story with the early version of Windows 10 until Microsoft finally got everything sorted out with the v1607 Anniversary Update. Since then, Linux desktop OS is no longer on my hard drive.

PeterThePanda, 08 Dec 2021More reasons to switch to Linux or even MacOS.Lol please, I don't. I used to be on the Linux bandwagon until I started using Windows 10 Anniversary Update. It's easy to say that I never miss Linux at all to this day. I don't immediately upgrade to Windows 11 because it's still a brand new OS.

Personally I've not noticed any delay, SSDs are federally faster than an HDD, then again got provably shouldn't be constantly writing data to your internal SSD with your Windows install. SSDs will have a limited number of writes to them, normally a few billion terabytes of data dependant on the quality and size of the drive.

I told you MacOS is superior compared to Windows 11. From bricking Dell and HP laptops, to spec requirements, slowing down AMD PCs, then this. Good luck with the security vulnerabilites too. Or you can try Linux.

I 'upgraded' to Windows 10 again today, after several random bluescreens and game crashes, as well as network failures. It was a clean install, yet endless problems...
