PepperPot, 12 Dec 2021What parallel universe are you living in? I had the first F... moreThe first batch of Fold sent out to reviewers was a mess and suffered from a lot of issues. Later on Samsung released a revised version of the same product which was now more durable, but still far from great due to a tiny outward display, lack of resistance to dust a few other issues. It was from the second generation where Fold truly became a good foldable, though some users have reported that their foldables with a UTG display got a crack around the crease.
Oppo is pronounced 'oppo' in China where as Apple is called 'pingguo', cause in many cases foreign company names are translated to Chinese then pronounced in their own ways. It's only in English where the two names become remotely similar, in fact in other Asian languages they are again pronounced in a distinctly different way (In Japan, it's 'Appuru' versus 'Oppo', and the latter uses 'Ouga' as their official company name).

It was not beta, it was not unfinished and it was not full of problems. Why can't you make a point and let it stand on its own merit without lying about another product? Samsung has been working on Foldable tech for 10 years plus. "Oppo" (which is pronounced to sound like "Apple") didn't even start making iclones. You think Oppo didn't purchase a Fold for comparison when they made this phone? Foldable tech is developing because multiple companies are involved and they are building off what others are doing.

People says that Oppo stole Samsung concepts, just remember, first Galaxy Fold was a beta product, unfinished and full of problems, also, Oppo is teasing foldable concepts before Samsung even started, thing is, they are developing this for years, and the first generation will be a finished product, unlike Z Fold series that got better only on Gen 2.

Anonymous, 09 Dec 2021so you have no problem with defending china and its IP thef... moreYou are not answering anyone's point. Moreover the news was about Samsung's own employees taking the company's OLED display techs to China for their own benefits, while whom these techs were sold to have not been mentioned clearly in the original article. People were merely speculating it is BOE because it is one of the major display manufacturers in China. Huawei is not involved here because they do not have a capability to design or manufacture displays in the first place.
It is funny too that you belittle China in that way while defending South Korea, whose entire history is heavily influenced by Japanese and Chinese cultures, from language, food to even subcultures. Another thing to note is that, many of techs Samsung possesses, including OLED, was taken from Japan if you follow the route.
