Its not the typical cheap sensors that android uses for face unlock, you can even unlock the phone even if you are wearing a face mask. An iphone will not unlock, I've tested this myself, using an oppo f11 and reno 3 and an iphone xr.

You can even say 2017 as my Essential Phone's tear drop almost looks like a punch hole. Apple and Google always behind Samsung by at least 2 to 3 years in hardware.

Before having blind faith in Samsung display quality, you just need to go to Samsung user communities to see how many customers are reporting their expensive Samsung TVs got unusable right after warranty ended or their phone/tablet screens got black, reddish, bluish, greenish, yellow, purple or whatever color. Huawei using boe and visionox display panels are not having those problems.

LG production has large panels as main focus, while samsung is still making only for mobile.

Like, for example, if you put photos in full screen they'll wrap around notch. Which makes no sense. Extend it to the notch. It's kinda stupid when you think about it.

But they didn't do so they made a full display phone so you're meant to use the full display and you can't because of the stupid notch.

Actual usable display is BELOW the notch, not corner to corner of the display. Whoever doesn't understand this shouldn't be coding the god damn apps.

I really don't get the kind of ridiculous claims and excuses Apple fans come up with to defend the notch. It's big, ugly, cuts off a huge chunk of the screen and crops everything once in full screen

I have seen some that have frigging app menus up there for some dumb reason. Everyone else who do apps properly use actual display surface for the app and leave notch horns for status icons, which is what they are meant for. This way display surface is actually maximized because status icons aren't taking up a row of pixels that could be used for actual app. And that's why I don't hate the notch. Because I (and most app developers) understand its purpose and function.
