AnonD-762416, 12 Dec 2021I have read of enough complaints about real terrible optimi... moreFirstly, no one is speaking about phones that cost a grand here, especially realme that too in india! And when it comes to Oppo, iirc they have also moved to 3 yrs of updates on the Find series (and maybe Reno as well but not sure)
And well, ofc every OS/UI has its fair share of issues/bugs, even iOS! What exactly do u mean by "enough complaints about real terrible optimization"?
Whether you want to concentrate on the minority who faced those issues or the majority who say everything runs stable without bugs is upto u frankly!
Unless there are some phone or experience-breaking bugs (like the ones that usually come around with a new version of android), I personally wouldn't look too much into it.

holy hell, it become shiller vs shiller conversation.

when it comes to optimization, iOS still takes the cake. something to do with, they made their own specialized SoC with several specialized CU that deeply integrated with the iOS, its no brainer its damn efficient.
I remember despite the qualcomm highscore in antutu, when it comes to things like opening pdf and stuff, iOS trashed them with half amount of RAM due to good integration and optimization.

Hell the current M1 series trashed i7 due to good hardware-system integration.
It'll take Windows years before they could reach that level optimization due to windows swiss army knife nature. Again, the same could be said with Android.
Swiss army knife Android will bound to be slower compared to specialized iOS. Android usually try to outperforming it by brute forcing the issue.

      ---

So far RealMe OS during realworld test still outperform Miui even with Redmi supposed 10~15% SoC advantage (SD720 vs SD732). It kinda shows how slow and inefficient current Miui is.

As Poco x3 user, Poco skin of Miui causes extra bugs. The bugs in the beginning was intolerable. Not to mention simple stuff like phonebook can bugged out if the phone is not restarted in three days to a week or so.
And the camera app... dude it takes 2~3 second to focus. my ol Redmi Note 5 ai focuses way faster than my current x3.

AnonD-762416, 12 Dec 2021I have read of enough complaints about real terrible optimi... moreI own both Xiaomi and OPPO. Yes, Xiaomi provides updates more frequently than OPPO, but unfortunately, MIUI still sucks, buggy even with more updates than ColorOS. So now less update doesn't mean anything for me, stable is more important.

There is also the lack of updates, which is an instant deal breaker for me when we're talking about tech that costs a grand.

Secondly, in the event they do, most people would flock to them because of the "brand" and not some "4/5 yrs" of s/w updates, I think.

Apple is planning to (acc. to leaks/rumours anyways) launch the SE3 with the same body next year, so imagine someone with that phone in 2025 or later, just how outdated it'd look in terms of h/w (more than a decade old in fact), s/w would be updated but still look like pre-historic since I have no hopes from apple changing up the look of the "iphone" around, still the same crappy icon layout with no customisations, no AoD (on the SE obv), etc

Anonymous, 11 Dec 2021I never tried realme phone before, can someone who own one ... moresoftware wise it's pretty good, faced no issues/bugs/lags on my X7 Max.
You just have to set-it up properly and turn off some toggles for ads & notifications, or simply uninstall/disable the apps using adb, hardly took me 10 mins.
As far as s/w updates are concerned, I don't care way too much about it, I haven't updated it even once after I got it (its still on A.15 with May patch), mostly bcoz of bugs reported by other users (especially battery life as I dont care about the 70 or 90fps in BGMI, 60 is fine upgrade from what I got on my SD820 b4).
But thats with most OEMs (look at 1+ or samsungs latest A12 versions), there are bound to be bugs if u update early (& since theres no way to downgrade "easily", better to hold out).

In fact they should've launched the Explorer Master edn instead of that stupid GT Neo2

Xiaomi's online marketing strategy is the main reason for the situation. They choose amazone and completly avoid flipkart which is numberone onlin3.seller. Realme came as 1st in Flipkart. No wonder. Because there is no Xiaomi brand...expect some old ones. In addition Xiaomi's rebranding of chinese original phones is nothing but do2ngrading the indian customers

                                  Many reasons for it
                                  1) People are getting fed up of ad-laced bloatware that Xiaomi is peddling. Miui when it was launched with Mi3 was nice now it is just way too chaotic
2)Miui updates (not security patches) are few
                                  3) Most importantly Xiaomi is not bringing the phones that people want. Mi Ultra less than 100 devices, all the high end devices of the year also not released in India. Realme on the other hand is trying to put things globally.
