Nick Tegrataker, 14 Dec 2021The anonymous guy clearly said "Tiny camera cannot blu... moreI did read it as "cannot blur what is close", I am so tired of constant useless complaints that are making the smartphone market shittier than it already is, so I didn't really put efforts anymore.
Still, a Portrait is basically taken at around 2m to 5m anyway, so what he said is still nonsense as some smartphone's macro can still focus at 1m or so despite being made to focus at short distances.

I saw this the other day along with the Oppo Find N. I'm looking forward to the Find N more. But I think this retractable camera would be great for future smartphones. Would be standard in a few years for the telephoto.

Oppo is at least trying to innovate next to Samsung and when LG was still around for mobile. Can't say the same for Apple and Google. I see this tech start appearing more by the Samsung Galaxy S23 and no later than S24.

Things like this usually takes a couple years to become standard. Wide-angle became standard by 2018-2019 after first seeing it on the LG G5 in 2016. And Oppo made fast charging standard as I saw fast charging by them back in 2014.

AnonD-909757, 14 Dec 2021Wow, wow, wow... I am really sorry to tell you that, but y... moreThe anonymous guy clearly said "Tiny camera cannot blur background UNLESS CAMERA IS REALLY CLOSE". When you use a macro camera, the distance between you and the phone will be naturally shortened, hence you will see more background blur. X70 Pro+'s background blur in portrait mode is mostly a software filter, just a bit nicer-looking one than what other companies use.

I am really sorry to tell you that, but you have ABSOLUTELY NO CLUES what you are talking about.
It has nothing to do with the sensor, it is about the lenses, and EVERY Macro camera on smartphones already do that.

1/1.56" behind 70-80mm would require more space.
Module would be thicker. This is why phones have crap 1/4 or 1/5" for those 3x.

AnonD-909757, 14 Dec 2021No, a good quality 2x zoom with true (hardware) Portrait Bokeh.Tiny camera cannot blur background unless camera is really close.
It is not like a 50mm for Full Frame that can blur around person even if person is 30m away.
Phones would need to use something like f0.6 or faster to have same effect.

How many there are? There are never been any more reports than for any other components, it is perfectly within the normal margin for any components, and in fact better than many.
There are reports of display stopping working and battery getting dead or even exploding, I guess it is time to stop putting those in smartphones them?
