Xiaomi 12 renders surface, hint at a relatively small 6.2" display

16 December 2021
That is small relative to the 6.81" slab that was the Mi 11.

Very nice apart from the curved screen...ugh

But its time to buy new one and I am looking for some fast but compact (compact these days = 155mm height and less) and this looks really great. Lets see if they can release it like this or it was just a rumour which doesnt come true. They may release Xiaomi 12X with SD870 (2 years old chipset) and Xiaomi 12 with 8gen1 but with 6,8'' display and it will be fckd... There is plenty of good phones with large screen but only Galaxy S21 with top chipset and android OS. Then there is only iPhone...

Taz, 18 Dec 2021Maybe because they nerf the smaller phones. Putting less ra... moreNot always true. The Xperia Compact series had same camera, as the phone it was the compact version of.

However, smaller phones will automatically have less space to put heavy duty components. Multiple and large camera sensors, especially with OIS will eat out space needed for battery.
8-series snapdragon also need space for heat dissipation.

6.2" (tall aspect) is the new mini for flagships if you look at Asus, Samsung and now also maybe Xiaomi 12.

Putting less ram and storage in them, giving them -1 gen cameras. Leave out features. Making them seemingly more value for the buck hence they sell better with a larger profit margin.

Owl, 17 Dec 2021No-one gonna talk about how they fit 5000mah battery in 6.2... moreIt's nothing new since Motorola had done it before with the Moto G7 Power and One Power (aka P30 Note).

Mi has been constantly increasing prices over the years.

While Redmi 1S in 2014 was priced at $100, they have no decent offering in that price range anymore. Their TV's are going north of $1400.
              Phones are expensive than ever.
Although a small, lightweight phone would be great news in this era.

To top it, its same old mi services bloatware you have to live with, even after that big cash. Rooting/bootloading is not for everyone to be honest.

Seems like smaller screens will be the trend in 2022.

RealLifePhones, 17 Dec 2021smaller screens are by far the dumbest trend of 2022 flagships 🙄The exact opposite. They are called "mobile" phones. If someone wants a behemoth, they can buy a tablet.

YUKI93, 17 Dec 2021I doubt that. There are still lots of demand for a compact-... moreWhere is that demand?
Because whilst I sometimes see it in a comment sections, it's the same bunch over and over.

It is most certainly not reflected in sales. Even among iphone buyer's, who long clinged to the smaller is better nonsense, now the Pro Max sells the most.

There are still lots of demand for a compact-sized flagship smartphone to this day. After all, not everyone wants a large smartphone screen. Even foldable screen smartphones still don't garner much attention from most people, mainly due to their complex hardware and high cost of repair.

70000/-? Really?? Is Xiaomi following Samsung's footsteps? Beware then... You'll disappear from this market like Sammy.. atleast from flagship category! Nd your software really doesn't deserve that price tag..
Will you provide ip ratings? Monthly security patches? Zero bloatware? For 70k.
Hope they don't go deep n remove the charger from box!!
