ANon, 17 Dec 2021Yeah it is awesome to watch movies especially with the beau... moreEven Apple gave up on it. They most use 3:2 or 1.41:1 these days IIRC.

Dunno where this 4:3 crowd comes from, no company follows that format.

kek, 16 Dec 2021I wonder why they felt the need to put a horrible notch on ... moreMaybe because that alternative would be to go all around and call it bezel?

Oh wait, I forgot, you love bezels. IMO better if they were to use underscreen cameras, but the current setup sure as heck beats the extra thick bezls with which tablets were saddled with for years (yet not a peep from your supposedly concerned audience).

As long as I hear someone being concerned about "the notch" yet not being concerned about the notch going all around called extra bezel, I write him off...

It's a compromise but way better than anything we had till now in the tablet world.

regs, 16 Dec 2021Again 16:10, not 4:3.Yeah it is awesome to watch movies especially with the beautiful crisp AMOLED screen!!
Thank God they don't do the horrible 4:3 aspect ratio, people who read books can go buy a kindle!

I am afraid a such big AND thin tablet, will easily bend

I never cared about tablets, but after seeing that notch i can't help but laugh
          Seriously, what were they thinking?
What's next? Are they gonna add a notch to a tv? Lmao

            Eww

kek, 16 Dec 2021I wonder why they felt the need to put a horrible notch on ... moreMarketing purposes, they know that the main sellers are gonna be the s8 and s8+, so let's make an expensive ultra model with a notch to make people talk about our tablets, even if it's negative talk, the point is to increase exposure. And here we are, playing right into their hands.

I have a bad feeling about a 14.6" tablet screen matched with a new generation of Snapdragon.

Never mind the fact that Apple's M1 chip has been tested and proven to power both a Macbook and iPad Pro.

I really don't know whom Samsung is looking to market this to?

At 14+ inches, Samsung has more than enough manufacturing know-how and resources to make it closer to 3-4mm thick and just use stainless steel or titanium for the frame so it doesn't snap. We all know this is going to be a $1k+ tablet, so Samsung shouldn't skimp on the materials and engineering. Tech companies are so damn lazy and profit hungry, it's stifling innovation like crazy.

Assuming the Tab S8 and S8+ have similar displays to the S7 series, that gives the S8 screen 274 ppi, the S8+ at 266 ppi, and the S8 Ultra at just 239 ppi. Kinda underwhelming for an "Ultra" tablet.

I hope the notch won't peek out like this. It destroys the whole screen side, as you can't use the whole screen as a rectangle to watch films or draw etc. It disturbs the harmony and the symmetry of the design.

with that thickness, it's gonna snap.

"Android 12 and is said to feature a new Extra Dim mode for less eye strain"

Good because people will have to make up for the eye strain caused by the notch. Seriously Samsung what the fug?
