Apple iPhone 14 Pro to have 48MP camera, periscope scheduled for 2023

21 December 2021
The new phones will also be able to shoot 8K videos, suitable to view on Apple’s upcoming AR/VR headset.

they still couldn't provide fast charging and making promises of periscope lens for 2023 lol... I bet in 2023 apple users would have to buy toolkit to assemble their phone when each part is sold separately. apple sucks

Uch better if video has PiP option, so the other app can be full screen.

So far battery life hasn't really changed, so I'm not worrying about it at all.

As for everyone bragging how Android had all the features 10 years ago. Maybe so. But what good is having that and not getting anything else because you just don't get any updates after 2 years at best? Have phones with Android 6 magically gained text OCR from photos in main photo gallery? Or even something as basic as a security update. Yeah, they haven't...

5x telephoto is always periscope. 12MP 5x zoom is fine. Nothing wrong with it. 8MP 3x on the other hand is not fine at all, it looks terrible.
By saying "periscope should be the standard" I meant 5x (12MP) should be the standard. Get it now?

Lol? Also how often do you print poster sized photos? Probably never. How often do you need to perform extreme cropping? Also probably never. Stop exaggerating like everyone needs high pixel counts on photos because you're high on big numbers.

"Right now, the telephoto camera of the iPhone 13 Pro Max caps out at 3x, but anything longer wouldn't fit in a modern slim smartphone without the use of folded optics"
Simply not true. "3x", "4x", etc are no physical specifications! You can also make a "10x" camera without a periscope, the quality would be just much worse. Digital zoom is exactly the same thing as using a small sensor, so 10x digital zoom is actually the same thing as a "10x" camera that has a very small low resolution sensor.

I'm on 3rd year with iPhone XR and it performs all tasks so swiftly I don't even have any need to upgrade. And since I'm actually getting updates, even less so. Can't wait for iOS 16 and iOS 17 which I know for a fact I'll still get. I don't miss any features particularly, but it's just so exciting to get new stuff to fiddle with without having to pay again for it (aka buying new Android phone after 2 years). Then I'll just be getting security updates for extra 2-3 years, though I'll probably buy a new phone by then. 5 years on 1 phone is something I haven't done yet, but it's pretty respectable age. iOS 15 had few hiccups, but with 15.2 it seems they ironed them out.
