Samsung Galaxy A53 to have two chipset versions

22 December 2021
Think of something similar to what's usually happening with the S series of flagships.

Xiaomi has promised he same just recently but for their flagships 11T m and 11T pro. I have redmi5 plus, still useful phone, but it stopped receiving security updates after 1,5 years, that is not enough.

Slim chance but hope they keep the headphone jack and expandable storage... Otherwise what's the point? It will just be the same as any other midranger out there from Vivo, Xiaomi and Oppo.

Sounds like samsung is gonna churn out another bucket load of low to mid range bricks for 2022 same as 2021. All the same with an odd thing here and there different. i know theres covering all bases but some of these phones in 2021 have been pointless.

Samsung exec who is overseeing A53 I'll do your job -
                      # Remove the depth & macro cameras and instead put the 8 MP telephoto from S20 FE
                      # Make the phone size compact like 6.1-6.2''
                      # Keep the chipset SD 778G or upgrade to 870 max, don't put in new Exynos.
                      # Keep the waterproofing as it is.
                      # Keep same price as A52s 5G or increase by 5-10% max
Then, see yourself beating all competitors be it Nord2, Realme GT etc..

Pumpino, 23 Dec 2021In what way is the A52s 5G a better buy than the S20 FE? Or... moreIn my part of the world the FE is $200 more than the 52s and is 4G only where as the 52s is 5G.

Pumpino, 23 Dec 2021GSMA's review of the A52s said "Our review unit c... moreJust some extra info:
The A52s has an extra Macro and Depth camera. The S20-fe lacks these but has a "weak" x3 telephoto camera (with OIS). The A52s has a x2 telephoto mode that uses the Main Camera. Both quiet similar, the S20-fe shoots a little further and sharper, the A52s has a bit more accurate colours/details.

Their ultrawide cameras are the same.

The S20-fe has a better Main Camera, but when you QuadBayer the A52s from 64MP down to 16MP, and use the enhancements from the Macro and Depth cameras. Well it's very similar, and becomes somewhat situational. Arguably, the A52s has the better setup, but it is very very reliant on the algorithm of the camera software. We have Gcam and OpenCamera ported and working on the S20-fe, which work very well. It's harder to get them to work well on QuadBayer setups, so I don't think it will win on that front. We don't have them ported yet to the A52-S yet. WHEN we do get bootloader unlock, root, mods, and Custom ROMs, the A52-S will also get 60fps mode for 4K recording as this is capable in the QSD 778's GPU and DSP, unless Samsung makes an update for it first.

Overall, I would prefer the S20-fe configuration, it's more straightforward... but we're splitting hairs, and you can't go wrong with either option. These are as good as flagship cameras from last year, but not as good as this year's options (S21 Ultra, Pixel 6 Pro, OnePlus 9 Pro).

....but if I had to buy the A52-s for USD $350, or the S20-fe for USD $450, I would buy the A52-s. It's cheaper, charger in the box, more Updates, better Battery Life, Headphone Jack. Giving up ever so slightly better performance, slightly sharper camera, Reverse Wireless Charging, and DeX functionality. The OnePlus 8t is also around USD $400, a decent option but still not as good as the other options.

Unfortunately, we have no way of knowing which one our unit has without disassembling it." Comparing it to the FE, "The S20 FE has a better camera on the back, too".

Kimovil lists the FE's sensor as the S5K2LD.
