Xiaomi reveals key 12, 12 Pro specs as live photos leak

The phone will have three 50 MP cameras on the back.

Personally think the regular Xiaomi 12 and the Xiaomi 12 x are unlikely to be that expensive given the specs. Also there will be a lot of competition released a few days later at the start of January which should pressure them to keep the price lower. It's also common for them to leak higher prices to dampen expectations just before a launch and then come with a significantly lower price. At least hope they are lower.

I wanna congrats Xiaomi on this design. They really nailed it with the color and the camera bump. It looks clean and modern.

Not even 800.000 would be sold.

If iphone mini is far behind even pro max (much larger and 2x the price), imagine from android OEM.

People need to move on. Small flagship like XZ1 Compact will never happen again. Not from any brand.

Yes Samsung for sure can easily make compact phones to be mainstream again, but they're just not willing to invest into it or take the risk, maybe cause of the risk of upsetting their own line-up of big phones that are across the price segments. It appears that a niche category of phones aren't an area of their interest if they don't make gaming phones as well, besides compact. But then again, they make or have in the past, made special foldable devices for the Chinese market, like the galaxy Folder and the Golden series and still they make the W series although those are just rebranded Folds and they have made phones like S10e as well, so that's confusing what they do. It's safe to assume that they just focus on things that sell more.

The 399$ Samsung compact like sounds like a safe bet. A lot of people are interested in flagship processor, even if a generation old. Samsung has implemented the idea already on their F62 model that uses the Note 10 processor, just that the phone is too big actually. The $799 might be a hard one for Samsung because they are so heavily focused on their flagships, so anything to affect its sales would be a like a huge risk for them, but yes the $799 compact galaxy would be really good since I prefer to have Android but might try iOS since apple sell makes all these small phones with long software support

Anonymous, 27 Dec 2021Yes unfortunately the market is far too small, almost niche... moreTrue about Apple retiring the Mini to focus on the SE.

I don't think Samsung has a legitimate excuse not to put out a compact flagship or upper mid-range device. The only thing that comes to mind is that their brand is forever associated with pushing for bigger screens while Apple has always been known to drag their feet about going bigger.

The compact phone must be a separate line. Say the Galaxy CE. It could be in two variants--a 5.4/5.5' with last year's flagship or current mid-range SOC for $399 and a 5.6/5.8' flagship for $799.

If there's any brand that can pull it off, it's Samsung. Plus they produce phones and variants for every price range and use case out there. Then again, they don't have a gaming phone, so it isn't that much of a surprise.

I'll get the 13 mini for sure next year if the rumor about deprecating the 14 mini holds true. It'll serve me well as a compact flagship until the SE 4. It's interesting that you prefer the 13 Mini camera design to that of the 12 Mini. I prefer the 13 Mini's.

I was obviously joking when I said this or that is truly compact and the other one isn't. Exaggerating, to make a point. Probably the reason why the mini reportedly got cancelled. I think all apple needs to do now is make the mini iPhone more accessible, because the price becomes a major deciding factor there. Too bad I got an Android phone recently. I would have got the Pixel 4a or the SE and was even considering the Unihertz Atom, if you may have heard of that phone, but unfortunately it's too much a hassle since it's not officially available outside china and has to be imported. Samsung yes, they can make a small phone at an accessible price but once again, they're just focused on selling in volumes like every other manufacturer, rather than looking at consumer requirements. The upcoming iPhone SE is the only option right now it seems. Small phone with big performance and decent priced tag but I might consider the mini as well since it's even smaller and feature packed. The iPhone 13 mini was my almost favorite choice but that rear camera assembly looks so weird, because it's diagonal instead of vertical like the 12 series
