I see the differences daily using iperf. If you don't know, iperf is a real benchmark tool that puts load into the network an accurately measure the throughput. With WiFi 6 I can hit nearly 1 Gbps with a 160 Mhz channel (the limitation is probably my 1Gbps wired network). With AC I can hit nearly 600 Mbps with a 160 Mhz channel. With N I can only hit nearly 200 Mbps with a 40 Mhz channel.

The Wi-Fi 6 release 2 will undoubtedly bring an enormous amount of benefit by making subtle improvements to uplink. It will deliver new features that specifically address increasing device and traffic density. This read explains how Wi-Fi Certified 6 Release 2 empowers Wi-Fi’s evolution to address today’s market needs. Now, the ever-demanding requirement for varied Wi-Fi scenarios would be quenched with greater capacity, efficiency, and reliability for home, workplace, and IoT-powered smart devices.

This is literally "how to say something without saying anything".
I can see only "it's better", and also "uplink is getting better". And moreover, this is even better than before. Better better to better the better.
      What a hogwash

Is it hardware upgrade or software? I mean you have to buy new router to gain this benefits?

I got 1gbps line and wifi 6 capable device and router, but I am able to squeeze 650mbps only over 5ghz, wifi 6. My wifi 5 devices tops out at 560mbps over 5ghz. So all this things are gimmick for me right now,no real improvement asside from wider coverage.

Hope more devices have WiFi 6 chipsets installed like smart TVs and security cameras.

Petey, 06 Jan 2022Bro i own the xiaomi ax3600 router. Its very bad wifi rang... moreI have the AX6. The main difference with yours appears to be that it has 160MHz support on 2x2, but it has no dedicated IoT antenna.

I am coming from my old but dear Edimax BR-6478 AC which actually served me well in every respect - except for range. My Xiaomi AX6 can be picked up fine in my neighbors house across the street, though most likely in WiFi 4 (N) mode (I didn't check which band it was using, but I had no bandwidth or connectivity issues, even when using my laptop for work there, which involves transferring a lot of 500 MB zip files full of logs and databases from our customers all day long).

Maybe you got a defective unit, or maybe you should change the channel. That can have a huge impact on network performance.
It is possible that you are getting interference on the channel you are using. Different channels are more or less congested in different regions, based upon local RF regulations etc.
I also have "MU-MIMO Beamforming" enabled and "Wifi 5 Compatible Mode" disabled.

what's the point of simplifying wifi version if wifi 6 are convoluted mess? unless wifi 6 release 2 are backward compatible through software update, where existing wifi 6 and 6e could benefit, then all of it's naming scheme can be thrown out of the window.

Its very bad wifi range on wifi 6 and on wifi 5 compatibility mode

Before i own netgear r8000 wifi 5 and almost 5 years old
It has more range better performance than xiaomi.

I dont know why the range is so bad on xiaomi compare to 5 year old netgear.

I tried changing the channel to 80-100 and wifi 5 to match the old netgear but its still worse range.

So definitely is true cheap product not same as expensive

With N I can only hit nearly 200 Mbps with a 40 Mhz channel.

There's definitely a difference when using the best modes available in each WiFi version.

I picked up a Xiaomi WiFi 6 router on AliExpress for about 60 bucks and it's working fine over my 500 Megabit cable connection.

                                  Better than fine even.

It also has great bandwidth for WiFi 5 devices. I can stream a 4K HDR movie over it to my WiFi 5-enabled TCL TV with zero connectivity issues while the rest of the devices in the house remain unaffected. My GF can stream to our MiBox in the bedroom concurrently with no issues either.

The range is also amazing. Best router I ever had. Even has an app.

...and for $60 I can afford to upgrade it whenever I need to, to improve the performance, be it for Wifi 6E, Wifi 6 "release 2", or WiFi 7.

Decent quality Wifi 6 Routers are prohibitively expensive.
Gotta wait for this tech to become more mainstream and the overall Internet speeds to increase even more for it to be truly useful.
For now my bulletproof TPLink 1GBPS Router is working like a champ.

There's a huge improvement considering how the band is getting overcrowded. If anything, they seems to be less reliable the further they are comparing to "a", which shouldn't be the case since "n" suppose to have a further range. As for 3G, i'm not sure since i hardly or never see 3G on my phone anymore and 4G is actually fast enough for nearly everything i'm doing on my phone.
