Curio, 06 Jan 2022Does this require a hardware update?Oh?!? What a question ?
Thanks to the deception here, in current sales, that is.
There are a few phones, like this Pixel 6, that I am on,
That are as advertised, and are a software upgrade.
However there are many new phones that are not Wifi 6E,
For example. And even though they have a Snapdragon 888 chipset (Wifi 6E ready) Many are hardware deficient and so ya , they are a hardware upgrade.

WiFi 5 does have MIMO supported routers and thats what I went for.

i can't afford to buy another one since this one was already expensive and was bought less than a year ago.

I honestly haven't seen a difference in Wi-Fi speeds since it was still on "n" over a decade ago. It's the same with Bluetooth technology. Just put a higher number and consumers will assume it's better.

Ouch, even though its only 10mbps your router probably doesn't have qos so with multiple devices using the internet at the same time it doesn't prioritize it properly, if you're downloading a file on one device the other devices might be chugging along at a few kbps until you finish the download. If you have that issue a newer router might help, no need to spend a lot either.

Great by the time a router comes out with this they'll announce wifi 7 🙄
