this handset is a mid-end phone not a high end so cant expect much. I say wait for moto labs to finish the Z12 which is supposedly meant to have 8 megapixel, gps, 2.8" vga screen and that kick slider.

For those who didn't get it: ZN5 is not a high-end phone. It's a high-end camera phone (i.e. a phone with a very good camera feature). Being GSM and not 3G it won't compete with N95 or C902 on the grounds of which phone has the most features. It doesn't have GPS, touch screen or huge display. On the other hand it has FM radio, 2.4" display, Wi-Fi, interesting keypad design, real flash, RAW format, picture editing, panorama pictures, e.t.c.
It will be cheaper than N96, N82 or even N78 yet it will have better camera than any of those. ZN5 is a small, not so expensive phone with an excellent camera, nice size display that won't break your budget. It's mostly targeted for Asia (no 3G there yet) and I think T Mobile USA will have it too.

                Megapixel myth!

The sensor won't be larger than any of the 3MP cell phone cameras out there, the image will just be larger and noisier.

Comparing cameras by their megapixel rating is not very helpful. Is the sensor in this phone as good as the one in your 5MP digital camera?

It's all about sensor size – for the same size sensor I'd take a smaller, clearer 3MP over a large noisy 5MP.

I know we shan't be biased and all that, but even from the most objective viewpoint i doubt if ZN5 can be successful. Yesterday, a post came about an 8MP cameraphone coming out and Moto announces its mobile whose highlight is 5MP NOW? I know its yet the highest MP-count on mobile phones, but it's just too late. To make it successful, there should be more highlights than the 5MP camera, which does exist, and that is the transforming keypad, but i don't think that would intrigue that many people. Furthermore, it seems very user-unfriendly. Nowadays, all companies are putting a one-of-a-kind feature in their mobile like the FM transmitter in N78/W980, the Touchpad in U900/KF600, the groundbreaking design in KF750, the dual-sliding nature of N96, and so on. And Moto come up with this warping keypad, not impressive. Furthermore, the display size is inadequate for a high-end phone, and the design is worse than Nokia. Hardly anyone would like a high-end candybar. It would have worked if announced a year earlier, but now all Moto can do is pray!

Why does everyone hate all non-Nokia, SE, APPle, Samsung, LG, etc. companies which start with M and end in A forever?

Come on, can't you guys have even a tiny speck of hope for it? Can't this certain company make a comeback someday?

I see a lot of negatives here....come on.

Everyone! You could only praise or criticize a phone when it's in its retail version and you have done a comprehensive, hands-on review rather than just by looking at some pictures and reading the tech specs. Review when you experience it HANDS ON!!!!!

When I say iPhone is easiest to use and has the best UI I don't mean it has the best features and it's most advanced phone. Read, please!
In feature category Motorola Q9h beats 99% of the phones out there including iPhone, all BBerries, Nokias, Samsungs and S-Es. But navigating the Web on the Q is a pain (even with Opera) and on iPhone it's a breeze. Sure iPhone can't open most attachements, doesn't support half of video formats that Q does...
And yes, Nokia IS working on a touch UI for Symbian S60 and the only reason they do it is because of Apple's success (and because everybody else is doing so).

Did i said Nokia's low end phone which cost less than 100$ have all those features which iphone lacks and its really funny how people say apple iphone is light years ahead but how? DELL kicks apple (steve jobs) in computer and Nokia, SE and SAMSUNG Kicks iphone and did i said iphone internally build by Samsung (around 80%)

You on the other hand:... moreNo one is rushing to compete Apple iPhone Nokia said "interesting but not successful" same happend Apple iPhone is advance for what you cannot forward a simple SMS, cannot use images to send MMS, you cannot download images, music etc from NET, cannot use BLUETOOTH for file transfer, 2MP camera is like VGA camera from Old Motorola phone like everyone i was amazed with iphone but with time i get bored and later understand how problematic iphone is and yes NOKIA S40v3/v5 is one of most easiest UI in the world not crap X

                                  1. don't know a thing about jap phones bec you don't know japanese and never been to japan. I test phones for living and had hundreds of phones in my hands including Casio, Toshiba, DCM, KDDI, and other jap stuff - they have very complicated menus, phones are big and heavy with poor battery life
                                  2. don't know squid about Motorola phones like U9 or E8 which have new menu, much better than very old S40
                                  3. iPhone is the easiest phone to operate, just read some reviewes, and is ahead of everybody that's why Nokia, S-E, Sumsung, LG, HTC and Motorola are rushing their touch screen phones to the market

Now go ahead and repeat the same rethorical mantra with no substance - empty words coming from empty mind...

thank goodness its a beta because i've seen better picture quality on a nokia 3 mp, which is what i have. i really dont think motorola can recover after their post-razr boom. there phones are coming to market late and their new featusres are everybody else's old features. time to fill in motorola 's grave with dirt. sorry moto.
