Like I said, iOS = paperweight software for the masses.
I did use the iPhone for some time, but the lack of so many useful features made me give it as a gift to a friend.
I also jailbreaked it within a week, but it got so glitchy and buggy I just had to revert it.
Never again iOS. Where someone will be able to flash and run custom android roms on an iPhone, I promise I'll buy one.
Until then, Android forever!

If memory serves me right, ntil iOS 13, you couldn't even set a wallpaper from the Photos app—nothing like browsing your photos, found one you liked, and easily set it as wallpaper. You had to go through settings app. But don't worry, people are choosing it because of simplicity.
Social status, social validation and peer-pressure would rank above simplicity on that table.

And people who own iPhone should be able to afford such things, knowing that iPhone itself isn't a cheap device

Google ain't going to risk loosing the revenue stream that having their services on Apple products provides. So nobody has to imagine an iOS device without YouTube, Google themselves are never going to let that happen. It wouldn't be petty for them to try what you suggest, it would be stupid.
