DaFink, 11 Jan 2022Yeah, cause that's how it'll play out. A 3 trilli... morethey did that with msft, remember the YT client? imagine your ios devices without youtube LMAO... the only reason that they aren't doing that on apple is "noncompetitive monopolistic behavior" the only reason apple gets away with this is because it does not have enough market share to be a monopoly. Also, google can stop ios devices from accessing search on safari. You do realize that your user agent is stored on a search request? if google really wants to be petty, they could literally write "it's on you to choose an ios device" as a result on search query? The sole reason it ain't happening is because the ad revenue far outweighs the apple pettiness it has to deal with, and google is an ad company first and foremost.

A 3 trillion dollar company 'brought to it's knees' cause people have to change search engines, ignoring the fact that Google search will always be available through the browser.

If Google thought for a second they could play the 'lets deny services on our competitor's platforms' card and have it work out badly for anyone but themselves, then they would have already done so.

Anonymous, 11 Jan 2022RCS messaging made by Google. That's why Google want t... moreApple planned on releasing iMessage for Android but stopped as they don't want Android users to not have a reason to swap phones. A quick search will give you the info and proof of this.

RCS was first done by each operator so it's not Google 100% but as the operators failed (all over the world) Google decided to enable it. You don't even need Google Messages for it just an SMS app that supports SMS.
For countries that actually use SMS there is 0 downside to use RCS instead.

For other countries there is still Whatsapp, Telegram, Signal, Line, Wechat etc..
So having RCS on iPhone is not something negative and would benefit everyone, but especially US where it seems that iPhone has a big market compared to most of EU where they don't.

hardware and software compatibility along with ecological sustainability and social responsability should be mandated and an intriquate part of capitalism you set the rules of the playground and then everyone can do what they want.

Everything about iOS just screams lower tier, trying to desperately copy Android with every new update.

AlienKiss, 11 Jan 2022Yes, it's true. We, Android geeks will always make fun... moreI agree with the prison part.
Even the average user doesn't want to be trapped in that prison style ecosystem.
Android can be way simpler than iOS and complex at the same time, for the folks who need to access that next level functionality.

Windows Phone's YouTube app client made by Microsoft got banned by Google in 2012 for no reason at all. Now they want them to have their RCS feature integrated in iOS. Interesting!

As a user of iOS I couldn't care less if I tried whether Apple integrate RCS into iMessage or not. My life will continue unabated regardless, as will the lives of those claiming to be affected by this total non issue if they stopped to consider the matter for longer than two seconds.

I would offer Google some free advice though, publicly begging your chief rival to play your game, ain't a good look

Because not everybody pays for coud and not everybody can afford that and not everybody have internet service everywhere.
In many parts of the world people are happy if they have 5MB internet connection.
For example africa, cheap asian countries south american countries etc.
