Well, despite being larger overall, it's narrower than my OnePlus 7 (not Pro). What is going on?! I want a phone, not spaghetti...

That's one of the PRO of the magnetic adapter, you can't put too much strength on the plug and it's soldering, otherwise it just disconnects itself.
If those were integrated by default into our smartphones, there would be no ports wear.
I already did buy another USB plug board for my F2 Pro anyway, just in case, as I bought it used and I wasn't sure if it did come from the magnetic adapter or the USB port at first.

Personally, I use a magnetic USB plug, to be more precise, this brand and model :
        https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PDXZNX6/
It reduces the wear on the USB port and is convenient, the only issue is that sometime, if you aren't careful with how you put your phone down, the cable can be miss plugged, not charging the device properly.

And indeed, this is a big issue, every security expert I've ever seen always advise covering the camera, but people who don't even know what are the extents of privacy breaching talk as if they know more than experts…

Sony pricing is 3x-4x of Xiaomis and no local service as well.

Anonymous, 18 Jan 2022Can't push an always-ON camera with pop ups. And compa... moreSee, you are taking part in saying totally false things about the pop-up camera.
The Poco F2 Pro I have in front on my eyes right now, just bellow my PC's keyboard, as I am typing, have both a pop up camera and an always-on display, and there are no issues to have both together.

Yes, but it is mainly the case with SMARTPHONES brands, again, for one reason, because of its community.
I was literally trying to download the latest Corsair software and I had an issue, for my newer headset and my keyboard, I have to download iCUE 4, but for my older headsdet, I have to download iCUE 3, and both can't work together.
They dropped support of older peripherals with iCUE 4, and it is clearly planned obsclecence that there is no need to.
The community was angry, and, like with EVERY other market on the planet, the company (here, Corsair), changed their decision and now they are bringing older products back to the iCUE 4.
                https://forum.corsair.com/forums/topic/168741-icue-4-unsupported-products/#comments

It works for almost everything, company cover niches, rare products, they have diversity, they are a minimum faithful and respectful of their community and when the community is angry, they try to do something about it.

ONLY the smartphone world have NONE of this, and as I said again and again, this is in big part because of the community that constantly complain about things they shouldn't.
Funny part is, when you complain about phones being all the same you're seen as a never happy person, but those complaining about those rare features that they have no reasons to complain about, because they NEVER get in their way, as there are more than enough other phones with other features to choose from, they consider that they are totally legit at complaining about those.
That's one of the big reason why Smartphones OEM screws the community, because honestly, this cancerous community doesn't deserve better.

Since when it is acceptable to complain about something for the minority that doesn't, in any ways, prevent the many from having whatever thing they want?

Actually, the pop-up isn't more expensive than the punch hole, it is really cheap.
But fearmongers always using buzzwords such as “water, dust, waterproof, wear, fragile, will break, wear” etc.
Despite all those having been debunked times and times again, killed this tech.

And by the exact same, all other innovation got killed, hence why now all phones are the same with the same features, except for Sony and for little known brands.

Also, Chinese strategy to get into a market is to make ok product at super low cost, and once well implemented, crank the price up.
They surfed on their community hype, expectations, and fidelity to grow, and they betrayed them.
OnePlus started becoming anti-consumer since the OP6 (It took them since the release of this phone to few months ago, now that they dropped support for them, to add Always On Display feature), they started cranking up the prices like stupid and following trends over making nice things with the OP7, and the OP8 was a typical generic overpriced phone with the same features, characteristics, and everything else than every other phones.

All brands are doing that, but OnePlus is the one who gave the biggest middle finger to its community.

that banner has wacky English, probably directly translated from Chinese, shows you how lazy they are these days

We have a lot of good choices for phones not made in China now. There is no longer any reason to take this risks for privacy and security, while tolerating the quality problems and human rights issues.
