Other than the wierd bug that causes my phone to freeze for a 1min whenever WhatsApp backup starts and the WiFi automatically turning off at night(no fix found) my Oneplus 6 still works like new (bought within a week of launch).

Battery still going strong AT BEST 10% degradation in capacity (I kept battery % between 50-80% for 95% of the time).

Last Oneplus phone though, don't like Oneplus's new direction.

I have in use an Redmi note 4x from 5 years ago and, without the google's updates, is still working very good.

Are also a lot of new custom roms for 1+, especially 6 series.

Vonikhsat S Metra, 17 Jan 2022"The last buggy OxygenOS 11 update" FTFY. I... moreI agree and I think it's the same all throughout the last Android 11 updates for all OEM's. ( WiFi issues ) So they should've fixed that issue first and give us a security plus hotfix patch to resolve the phone's issues before stopping all updates.

Anonymous, 17 Jan 2022You know what else was released in 2018? Yes, the iPhone XR... moreYeah, keep comparing iPhones to Android phones like it makes sense(to me it doesn't), comparing 2 different operating systems with Apple releasing only a few phone/year and having control over all their hardware and software.
This doesn't exists on Android, the Pixel series is the closest to that but not quite.
So, just pick your side, iOS or Android ?
You pick what suits you the most basically.

You know what else was released in 2018? Yes, the iPhone XR. However, the minimum supported iPhone is the iPhone 6s from 2015. I know this is one year longer than some brands, but still embarrassing imo

Vonikhsat S Metra, 17 Jan 2022OppoPlus now has a three-year full updates policy and four ... moreIt's so funny, people are against the merge between OxygenOS and ColorOS but then when it brings features and it's more stable, you guys are happy in the end, humanity wouldn't have progressed if everybody was like you...

Motorola and Sony to name a few, have close to stock Android.

Pixels camera software is way above OnePlus, you should have bought a Pixel in the 1st place.

"Each OnePlus flagship phone is entitled to three major OS updates and three years of security updates"
                  Does this mean:
                  - 3 years OS updates and then another 3 years of security updates?
                  Or:
                  - 3 years OS updates and 3 years of security updates. Which sounds stupid because how could you ship an OS update without the security updates?

Which is it? I would be happy with 6 years security updates. Android updates don't mean very much since version 6.0

R...Hunter, 17 Jan 2022OP forcing people to buy OP 10 color OS 😕😕🙄🙄🙄?Nice way of thinking, did they force you to buy the 9 series when support for the 5/5T ended?
Did they force you to buy the 8 series when support for the 3/3T ended?
Like, who's even forcing you to buy a phone from the same brand, SMH, crybabies everywhere.

Bodygard, 17 Jan 2022It was a very bad work from Oneplus in the past. They said ... moreThat's the T series. It's just a minor refresh, so they can be a little ahead of the others who release models once a year and not worry about long term availability of some components. That will provide a upgrade path for people with older models or other oem models during the middle of the year, without waiting for half an year holding to their old phones.
It doesn't necessary come with the latest Android, since it's the same phone version. No one will upgrade to the same version T phone, they will only upgrade to the next generation.

"with a near stock Android and decent enough camera experience"
                          That's Sony right?

It was a very bad work from Oneplus in the past. They said 3 updates, for example the 5 and 5T, the latter came out in November 2017 with Nougat 7.1.1 when Google had released Oreo in the summer 2017. So they launched a new device, 3 months after a new Android version but still loaded with a 1 year old Nougat hahaha
And when they updated 5 and 5T to Android 10, it was a half baked version, with bugs, deleted features (like EIS being removed) etc so people had to rely on custom roms or buy a new device...

I really hope Oneplus does bad and disappears. Because they failed users several times now.

Still fast for all uses, battery still ok at 80%.

Software support was a solid 3.5 years.

No complaints really! (Even camera was decent for the price)

I'm so upset. The last Android OEM with a near stock Android and decent enough camera experience has left ... the chat. Damn.

It's either Google Pixel now or bust and OxygenOS was so much better than stock Android while not being in your face and pushing all sorts of krap.

"The last buggy OxygenOS 11 update"

                                      FTFY.

I wish I would have never updated to it. Not only I lost a ton of data (I had some backups but still lost a lot - OxygenOS doesn't offer full backups), the 11th Oxygen OS is buggy as hell and lacks many features from previous versions, e.g. DC dimming. For instance the Wi-Fi connection often silently fails. It shows it as "Connected" but in fact it's "No Internet connection". Reconnecting helps. This never happened with versions 9 and 10.

It's quite unfortunate that the last update has turned out to be this bad.

LineageOS sounds like an option until you realize that in order to use it you have to keep your bootloader unlocked which means anyone can steal your phone and use it. Also I'm not sure if LineageOS allows to use the stock camera and at least with older versions, you couldn't use the stock camera or even GCam Mods which made using this ROM quite a sad experience.

The OP6 did receive three OS update because it was shipped with Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box, but not the OP6T since it was shipped with Android 9.0 Pie out of the box. I expected to see Android 12 coming to 6T as its third and final OS update. But alas, it will never happen. Still, all is not lost as there is the custom ROM community on hand.
