They just throw around component cost without factoring in R&D and various other things that impact the final cost. Sure, there is also a brand tax and Apple can put the biggest one on their devices just like Rolls Royce can or Ferrari, but those Bionic chips that shatter the industry on every release didn't just magically happen. Apple spent tons of money developing them. And it's their own design, not like Snapdragon or Dimensity that's off the shelf product and costs as much as it costs for companies using them and that's that. Or the glass. People say Ceramic Shield is just renamed Gorilla Glass Victus. Well, it's not. It's custom glass composition that Apple ordered specifically from Corning. It's most certainly a bit more expensive per display because of it. Same for displays. Sure, BOE makes them and Samsung makes them, but Apple makes an order of very specific type of display with very specific characteristics that's most likely made exclusively for them and may include technologies like LTPO which was Apple's design. Things like this will always cost more than off the shelf components 99% of phone makers stuff into their products.
