Pity, as that's a great phone. Even has a headphone jack and expandable storage (albeit the nano memory card type). Excellent camera setup too

Dead on arrival. Not a single sane person would spend that much money on a device that doesn't have Google services.
There are many cheaper alternatives that offer the same camera performance and yet provide access to the Play Store.

Glad to see huawei flagships on european markets.
When comes to photography Huawei beats every competitor and competition with such ease.
When comes to folding or flip phones Huawei is also way more specced than the others.
When comes to everything else Huawei Harmony can guarantee you way more updates than Android devices where for example most Samsung A series got only one major OS update.
Not speaking about IOS because apple doesnt coperate with anything which doesnt bear apple logo on it. And paying way more for china made products is a loss loss for any and every single custoemer.

Asking more for a way better phone is only logical.
No google services are win win for huawei and their harmony OS.
At least they cn generate more profit in their app gallery.
Google services are nothing just a costly gimmick making jokes on its customers just like google did with a location data lawsuit.

Better be wise and move on, Huawei would always be miles away for possibilities. As you have said those who buys Huawei products are being fooled but not true. Those of us who appreciates new challenges would always goes with Huawei products for their excellence.

Damn Huawei... What the hell is wrong with you? 1200 Euro for p50 pro and 1500 Euro for p50 pocket? While there is half priced 8gen1 phones... You need to win the hearts of consumers, not try to steal their money!

P50 is a nice phone, but my Mate 40 is almost the same and cost 300€ less while having 5G support as well

Sell something and ... moreThe point is, there is no reason to buy Huawei, they costs the same if not more than competitors and offer same specs etc but with worse experience, just look at Nova 8i Snapdragon 662, cheap IPS screen, horrible photo and video quality, no Google services and it costs $260! WTF! You can buy much better smartphone for that amount of money and with normal Android. Yeah you can install apps from Google Play alternative markets but many apps still depends on GMS, for example you may download app of a taxi, and it's depends on Google Maps, it won't work normally, or for example some app depends on Google Drive, again a hassle. No way you'll run Google Pay on Huawei devices. To be honest, Huawei has never impressed me with their smartphones, they are the most overrated.
