At least someone is trying to be a rival of Android, competition - something that's always good for everyone. No company in this world is pure saint, because after all, that's how business works. Even privacy software themselves put their nose into your privacy.
What he's is trying to say is Harmony is just a fork, which is not true. China developes everything themselves. So developing an entire OS may not be a big deal for them. After all they are the supplier of most tech electronics worldwide.
Even if people outside China don't welcome Harmony, it'll run smoothly in China I believe.

They should just fork android and call it a new OS. Worked for huawei so I can’t see why it wouldn’t work for them.

Seriously though, Android being easily adaptable and cheap/free to use is probably why other OSs haven't thrived. Windows Phone 10 was good with lots of support but even MS couldn't fix the app situation.
