Son of Android, 29 Jan 2022See alaye Forget about that your proudful iOS updates . ... moreExcept they don't. Especially not on low end devices. There you mostly get single major update and single extra year of security updates. And we're talking brand names like Oppo that are anything but small or irrelevant. There is also tons of literally no name phones whose brand names are generated by a Chinese name generator that as far as I can tell never get a single update after you buy them from eBay/AliExpress/whatever Chinese markets and some even come into retail stores all over the world. So, no, they don't get security updates for long time. And to make matters worse, they don't even release them every single month like Samsung does. They skip months and release security updates with huge lags like receiving September security update in December...

Forget about that your proudful iOS updates .
most Android update doesn't really matter on level entry devices .
    And let me tell something
And update does not really matter in terms of low devices
What really matters are security updates which ALL OEM
Give for a very long period

Inve, 27 Jan 2022Only 4 months after it was reported to them... disaster. WebKit identity leak bug was apparently reported to WebKit bug tracker on 28th November 2021 and was detailed on 14th January 2022. I don't know how you managed to get 4 months out of 2, but I'm not surprised Apple haters are making things up to make Apple look bad 24/7. Also, how is that bad opposed to not ever getting an update on Android because you know, phone vendors tend to kinda not care at all past 2 years? There is tons of phones stuck on ancient Android versions full of security issues that can't be plugged by GooglePlay and app updates and you're all fine with all that. I'm not which is why I'm not using Android anymore until phone makers stop being so lazy.

This is what you pay for , good luck with ANYTHING being patched on Android , its scary how unsecure 90% of Android devices are.

As an owner of both high end Android devices and an iPhone , I would never use Android devices for banking as their security is a joke. For games and browsing they are fine but nothing else.

Anonymous, 27 Jan 2022Ummm will it slow my device? Just askinPeople keep saying how new iOS updates just slow down your iPhone. I'm on 3 years old iPhone XR and I can't say I notice it being any slower. It's buttery smooth and responsive with anything I throw at it. Can't wait for iOS 16 this fall. And iOS 17 after...

No, it's not hurting me because I'm not using Android. I avoided it literally because of how god awful updating is on Android phones pretty much across the board.

Also yeah, 99% of Android phones that were released with Android 8 only received 9 and maybe 10. And that's a stretch already in most cases.

Yes, because still delivering MAJOR and SECURITY updates to phones from 2015! is somehow bad. Because Apple bad! And because Apple actively supports devices from that far ago (show me a SINGLE Android device that officially gets software updates for this long), they can afford pushing the OS versions forward as requirement. Google can't because there is bunch of people today still using Android 10, 9, 8 and even 7 despite Android 12 already being out for almost half a year. With iOS, that only happens when phone stops getting updates and is stuck with whatever it got last, but still continues to receive security updates. And at that point device is around 7-8 years old. But Apple bad, reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Also it was never announced that iOS 14 will remain available forever. They just said you have the option NOT to go to iOS 15 the way we used to in the past where it was a requirement very soon after launch. Because of COVID and initial issues iOS 15 was facing which they were aware, but had to push the release. I've updated and while it had few glitches, it was fine.

Updated my watch and phone this morning and all went smoothly.

Good for them to fix an iOS that they are forcing older devices to upgrade to.
                          Marvelous strategy.
