Sawyer, 04 Jan 2013This update prevents sudden death from occurring, though.I have the Galaxy Note, not the SIII.

Sudden death hasn't been reported for this kind of phone, but it's affected by the Exynos exploit.

I'm not sure I want the fix. the exynos exploit brought me one-click rooting to my phone, and to be honest I'm very happy with my new privileges.

don't want to do a real rooting because 1.) warranty 2.) too lazy

And I use only more or less trustworthy apps (don't install every single crap game and nonsense apps), so it shouldn't matter really that much anyway

"It is quick to point out that most well-known, legitimate apps are not carrying any risk, so if you stick to popular apps from the Play Store, then you should be safe.", this "kernel exploit" is absolutly no risk at all for "normal" users!

This news is so damn wrong, there are no evidence or confirmation that this fixes the sudden death issue alleged with bad emmc chip.Build date of this firmware is before Samsung even acknowledged the sudden death issue. So far all this new boot loader do is check if there are any custom recoveries or anything custom(including root) and show a small red exclamation mark in the boot splash image.Even Triangle away by chainfire won't work if you have custom recovery installed. So if you have this mark and emmc bug comes samsung can simply reject giving you warranty.Think about these things before you update !

The reason is cause S3 selling well in UK. Other country don't think so.
