Buying Moto G1 in 2022 is better deal than redmi note 11 pro.

E3 power and the G3 turbo were the last good moto phones. Everything went downhill thereafter.

Vic4BBM, 30 Jan 2022Under Google, Motorola did the best in defining the market ... moreWhich unwanted options to they give now then, just wondering because I know few people having Moto phones, and poor update support aside I don't see any unwanted stuff.

Cons sure, but that is a different category.

I remember getting it the KitKat update before my Nexus 4.

But the only reason Google bought Motorola was for the patents, buy them, make jt look like we care and then sell everything but keep the patents.

That was the whole plan from the start.

I remember because I had one. The phone worked pretty smooth for the time. The camera was good. I remember dropping it on the concrete and the screen didn't even scratch.

Under Google, Motorola did the best in defining the market into 3 segments. Premium bracket with Moto X, Mid range bracket with Moto G and Affordable bracket with Moto E. One phone in each segment, with pure Android and decent specs for the price was a defining point.
It was due to this sucess, that other OEMs started strategising and the equipments according to the bracket . But now in 5he name of innovation and customer needs, these brackets just seem 'polluted' with n number of options for no reason. May a times it is the same phone but with different branding from the parent company.

But now under Lenovo, Motorola has been killed. They killed the X series. E series has become insignificant and Everything is launched in the name of G series. Something is offered as premium under Edge series. So many unwanted options that a buyer gets confused rather than convinced to buy a product.

Moto G3 and Gturbo were my last Motorola.

To this day, this moto g has one of the best audio dacs in a smartphone - awesome sound quality, clarity and loudness through the jack.

Such a pity moto/lenovo stopped focusing on sound quality - which is a main factor in enjoying media..

All the moto's G's since, have improved specs across the range, but evidently weaker dacs and sound quality. Epitomizea digression

Moto was better when it was an American company as their recent phones are unappealing

I had one of these for 8 years. When it was stopped being updated, I moved it to Linneage and it stood the test of time.

                    Outstanding phone at that time.
To me Motorola is stuill excellent even under Lenovo.
Had Moto X4 for almost 4 years and it was one of my best phones.

I'm one of a proud owner of MotoG, the grip cover of motoG is the best. I'm wondering how Moto fell from one super device with quality colourful accessories to a company with 100 Device mess.

Still a weird move by Google, buy for $15b,sell for $3b a year later, Google really wanted those patents etc.!!!
Nexys 4 was by far the better device, the difference between the sd400 and the S4 Pro was huge.

Lenovo won’t be able to recreate what Google did with the Moto G

2013 was a great year for android.
                            Many companies launched budget devices.
I will say it was the year many Chinese company emerged with low cost mobiles.

2013 was the year I bought my first smartphone. I remember scouring for this but it wasn't available in every market and it sold like hotcakes too so gray market resellers don't have it either. I ultimately went with the nexus 5 that fall. No regrets.

If I did not buy used flagships when this phone was out. I would have bought one. The budget and mid range phones now are so good that a person doesn't need a flagship.

Had one. Great device and even though it had a LCD screen, the contrast ratio is amazing. But the camera camera started to capture pink tinted images in low light after lollipop upgrade. So downgraded it to KitKat. The phone had an excellent RAM management with the KitKat with only 1GB ram. Lost that phone in 2019.
I also brought a Moto X Play back in 2016 and with rough usage(dropped it from 1st floor to ground, submerged in the beach)
still it is in one piece never replaced a single part. Works fine now with some battery degradation. That phone had a great screen to body ratio(76%) and bigger image sensor (1/2.4" sony) for that ₹17000/$230 price range.
Those days are gone. Now the built quality and software support are mess with Moto.

If I did not buy used flagships when this phone was out. I would have bought one. The budget and mid range phones now are so good that a person doesn't need a flagship.

Yeah this phone was pretty popular back in the day. For a budget phone it had good specs. It & the X were lacking in the Kevlar styling of the other Moto Droids at the time, but the people liked the colorful back cover options it had in replacement.

I bought one in 16GB and it was a nice phone. What was really impressive about this phone was that despite the budget price tag, it came with several premium features like latest glass for screen protection and an HD resolution display and perhaps a water repellant coating as well which were flagship stuff back then
